What seeds/soil to buy & Where

What seeds to buy & where?

I buy organic seeds when possible.

I can find organic “back to the roots” seeds and soil at Walmart or Target.

If not here, I get some special herbs from @mountainroseherbs or my local food co-op.

And there's still time to start your fall plants or herbs!

Are you growing yet this season?

... Read moreWhen it comes to starting a home garden, the quality of seeds and soil you choose can make a huge difference in your success. I’ve found that opting for organic seeds ensures healthier plants and safer food, free from harmful chemicals often used in conventional seed production. Brands like Back to the Roots and Burpee are some of my favorites because they offer heirloom and organic varieties that come with germination guarantees—this means less worry about seed viability. Shopping locally at Walmart or Target has been surprisingly convenient for me, especially when looking for starter kits or organic soils. These stores often stock organic herb, vegetable, and flower seeds from reputable brands, making it easier to get everything you need in one trip. If you’re looking for more specialized herbs or rare varieties, I recommend checking out Mountain Rose Herbs online or visiting your local food co-op. They typically carry a wider range of organic seeds, including medicinal and culinary herbs that can add variety and value to your garden. When choosing soil, look for organic, nutrient-rich options that offer good drainage and moisture retention. The 'Back to the Roots' organic soil I use has helped my plants grow strong and healthy. Additionally, planting in organic seed-starting trays or greenhouses—like the ones with adjustable vents and reusable trays—can dramatically improve germination rates by creating the perfect microenvironment. If you’re considering starting your garden this fall, don’t hesitate because there's still plenty of time to plant cool-season crops and herbs. Crops like lettuce, kale, parsley, and cilantro thrive in cooler temperatures and can extend your gardening season. From my experience, growing your own food organically not only helps you maintain a sustainable lifestyle but also gives a rewarding sense of accomplishment. It’s fantastic to see your plants thrive from seeds purchased with confidence, knowing they are organic and eco-friendly. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener, sourcing good seeds and soil is a foundational step that pays off in a healthy, fruitful garden.
