Why is pride a thing??

Some things are out of ignorance, others were traumatizing 😃👍

These are just a handful of my experiences.

* Going on a picnic with my partner and some guy trying to drug us (slipped a pill in my Monster). We hid at a pizza shop for two hours and walked home.

* Getting yelled at for going into the mens restroom, getting yelled at for being in the women’s restroom. I can’t win.

* People after knowing me for 5mins asking about my plan for transition “down there”.

* Getting followed home by a group in a car screaming F@gg0t and Tr@nny at me and my partner. We were just going for a walk.

* Getting followed home by a group of teens with knives.

Me and my partner rarely go out anymore. After 2 years we have slowly started to show affection in public. It is exhausting. This isn’t just “my area” these things have happened across multiple different states.

📍 States: MA, PA, SC, RI

... Read morePride represents resilience and the fight for acceptance within society. Many LGBTQ+ individuals, like the author, experience traumatic moments stemming from ignorance and prejudice. Articles like this reveal insights into the challenges faced by queer communities, including discrimination in public spaces and the struggle for safe self-expression. Sharing personal experiences can foster understanding and empathy. Public displays of affection by LGBTQ+ couples might seem simple but can lead to dangerous confrontations, as illustrated by the author's encounters in multiple states. The discrimination experienced, such as being followed or verbally abused, emphasizes the urgent need for greater awareness and protection for LGBTQ+ rights. Advocating for equality not only supports those directly affected but also allows society to progress towards acceptance and inclusivity. Engagement in hashtags like #pridenotprejudice, #equality, and #transgender rights can amplify these voices and bring about change. By promoting understanding and empathy, we can help to create a safer environment for everyone, encouraging individuals to live authentically without fear. Together, let’s stand up for LGBTQ+ rights and work towards a world where all can express their identities freely and with pride.

Being “Low Maintenance” Isn’t Always a Good Thing
Hot take: “low maintenance” sounds cute, but it can actually be a trap. 🙃 There’s a difference between being chill and just ignoring your own needs. It becomes a problem when you: Keep quiet instead of speaking up Settle for half-hearted effort Hide what you really want Mistake “peace”
