apps for when i am feeling lazy 😴

befreed: the easiest way to read books, because there is no extra information, there are plenty of books to choose from, and i can read multiple books a week. my favorite feature are:

-20 minute podcasts

-30 minute deep dives

-flashcards (my personal favorite).

elevate: a daily app that reminds me to elevate parts of my brain like memory, quick thinking, critical analysis, and more.

edx: the free way to take classes online. chose from ivy-league level classes, to state school curriculums, and in between, and learn just about anything you want.

... Read moreYou know those days when you really want to learn something new or build a good habit, but the motivation just isn't there? That's exactly when I turn to my favorite 'lazy' apps! It’s all about making personal growth feel less like a chore and more like an engaging game, almost like an 'idle habits RPG app' for your brain. Take BeFreed, for example. I used to struggle with finishing books, but now I can get through multiple a week! Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I dive into their 20-minute podcasts or 30-minute deep dives. It feels like I'm completing mini-quests to unlock new knowledge. And the flashcards? They’re my secret weapon for cementing what I learn, making it feel like I’m leveling up my understanding with every session. It completely transforms passive reading into active, rewarding learning. Another fantastic app that truly embodies the 'idle habits RPG' concept is Duolingo. While not in the original post, it's a prime example of how gamification can make learning languages incredibly addictive. You earn points, maintain streaks, and unlock new levels – it feels just like an RPG, but you're actually gaining a valuable skill. Similarly, apps like ‘Journey’ (which I’ve also explored!) keep me motivated by tracking my reading streaks and showing me how many hours I’ve saved. Seeing that progress bar fill up is a huge psychological boost, turning a simple activity into a measurable achievement. Then there’s Elevate, which is essentially a gym for your brain. Instead of tedious exercises, it offers fun, quick challenges designed to boost memory, focus, and critical thinking. Each session feels like a mini-game, and you can visibly track your improvement over time, just like gaining experience points in a game. It’s perfect for those moments when I want to feel productive but don't have the energy for intense study. And what about setting the scene? I've found that using these apps in a 'lit room' – a cozy, well-lit space – makes the experience even more enjoyable and effective. Imagine curling up with your favorite blanket, surrounded by soft lighting, and embarking on a BeFreed deep dive or an Elevate brain game. It transforms the learning experience into a relaxing ritual, rather than a task. It's about creating an inviting environment where self-improvement feels like a treat, not a chore. Beyond the gamified aspects, what I love is the personalized touch. Some of these apps offer 'highly personalized recommendations,' suggesting books like 'Your Strategy Needs a Strategy' based on my interests, making discovery effortless. And the interactive features, like a 'chat interface' to explore books beyond the page, asking questions like 'How should I approach early wins in a new role?' just makes the learning so much richer and more engaging. It's like having a personal tutor right there with you. So, if you're looking for ways to stay on top of your personal growth and learning goals without feeling overwhelmed, these apps are a game-changer. They turn 'lazy' into 'productive' by making self-improvement an enjoyable, rewarding journey. Seriously, give them a try – you might just surprise yourself with how much you achieve!
