I’m in my “I’ll make it myself so I know what’s in it” era 💅

Bread should have simple ingredients, max 6 if you want it extra flavored & soft 🍞

Within 2 hours, I have a homemade bread made of clean ingredients that feels both simple and rewarding. Here's how:

✨ INGREDIENTS

• 1 1/3 cup filtered warm water (NOT hot) or milk

• 2 tsp dry yeast

• 1 tbsp sugar or honey

• 3 cups all purpose flour , bread flour or gluten free flour

• 1 tsp of Salt

• 2 Tbsp of Olive oil

✨ INSTRUCTIONS

1️⃣ Activate the yeast:

Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit about 10 minutes until bubbly and frothy.

2️⃣ In a separate bowl:

Combine flour, salt, and olive oil.

3️⃣ Add the activated yeast mixture to the flour mixture. Mix and knead about 10 minutes, adding more flour if needed until the dough isn’t sticky.

4️⃣ Lightly oil a bowl, place dough inside, flip to coat both sides, cover, and let rise for 90 minutes.

After it rises… the fun begins. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Shape your dough into a loaf. Lightly oil the inside of your stainless steel bread pan using Primal Kitchen avocado oil or olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the dough into the pan and bake for 30 mins. Remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool before slicing.Optional: Brush the top with melted grass-fed butter for added flavor and softness.

Many conventional wheat farmers spray crops with the herbicide Glyphosate just before harvest to dry them out, which can cause the transfer of these herbicide residues into the flour. Making your own bread at home also protects you and your family from it!

... Read moreBaking your own bread at home is not only satisfying but also lets you control every ingredient, offering a wholesome alternative to store-bought varieties that often contain preservatives and additives. When I first started making bread, I was amazed by how using just simple ingredients like filtered water, dry yeast, and olive oil could yield such a soft and flavorful loaf. One of the biggest benefits of homemade bread is avoiding the potential herbicide residues found in commercial flour, such as Glyphosate. This herbicide is commonly sprayed on wheat crops before harvest to dry them out but can remain on the flour, potentially impacting health. By making your own bread — using filtered warm water or milk, natural sweeteners like honey, and flour you trust — you eliminate this risk. The key to a great loaf is in the yeast activation and proper kneading. Letting the yeast bubble for about 10 minutes ensures the dough rises wonderfully, creating a light and airy texture. Kneading for 10 minutes not only develops the gluten but also helps incorporate air for softness. Using olive oil adds moisture and a subtle richness, and brushing the finished bread with melted grass-fed butter boosts flavor and keeps the crust tender. I also love experimenting with different flours such as bread flour for a chewier texture or gluten-free flour blends if you prefer. For ease, I’ve found a stainless steel bread pan coated with avocado oil—like Primal Kitchen brand—prevents sticking and helps form a beautiful, even crust. Allowing the bread to cool fully before slicing prevents it from becoming gummy inside. If you’re exploring cleaner, non-toxic living, baking your own bread is a fantastic place to start. It’s rewarding, cost-effective, and ensures you and your family enjoy the freshest, healthiest bread possible. Stay tuned for more simple DIY recipes that promote holistic health and low-tox living!
