Happiest Birthday to my friend Kelly!
OMG, you guys! I just HAVE to share all about Kelly's amazing birthday celebration. As you know, her birthday was just around the corner, and we finally got to celebrate it properly last weekend, on the 15th of June! It was truly one for the books, and I'm still smiling thinking about all the fun we had making her feel super special. We decided to keep things a bit low-key but packed with personal touches this year. Instead of a big, fancy party, we opted for a cozy-yet-chic backyard brunch. Think fairy lights, comfy cushions, and a DIY mimosa bar! The vibe was absolutely perfect for Kelly, who loves intimate gatherings with her closest friends. Setting everything up was half the fun; we used pastel balloons and fresh flowers to create a really dreamy atmosphere. For food, we went all out with a potluck brunch spread. Sarah brought her famous homemade quiche, Tom whipped up some delicious avocado toast, and I took on the challenge of baking Kelly's favorite lemon drizzle cake. It turned out perfectly fluffy and zesty – she was so surprised! We also had a fruit platter, mini pastries, and of course, endless coffee and juices. The mimosa bar, with various fruit purees and sparkling wine, was a huge hit, letting everyone customize their drinks. One of the highlights was our “Memory Jar” activity. Everyone wrote down their favorite memory with Kelly on a small piece of paper and put it into a decorated jar. Later, we took turns reading them out loud, and believe me, there were so many laughs and a few happy tears! It was such a heartfelt way to remind her how much she's loved and appreciated by everyone. We also played some silly charades, which always gets competitive with our group! Finding the perfect gift for Kelly is always a mission, but this year I think I nailed it. Knowing her love for gardening and cozy evenings, I got her a beautiful succulent terrarium kit and a really unique, artisanal scented candle. Seeing her face light up when she opened it was the best feeling ever. If you're planning a birthday for a friend, my biggest tip is to personalize everything! Think about what they truly love and incorporate those elements into the celebration. It doesn't have to be extravagant; the thought and effort make all the difference. Also, delegate tasks among friends – it makes planning so much easier and more enjoyable for everyone involved. It was such a joy to see Kelly so happy and surrounded by love. Every laugh shared, every memory recalled, just reaffirmed how lucky we are to have her in our lives. Happy birthday again, my dear friend Kelly!
