BEST TIDYING ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED

I used to be so cluttered and messy to the point it was overwhelming. After I learned this and started implementing it, I’ve been so much calmer (and cleaner!). Don’t put it down, put it away. Don’t set your hairbrush down, put it where it goes. Don’t leave your toothbrush on the counter, put it back in its holder. Don’t leave your pens scattered across your desk, put them in their cup or drawer. Don’t put it down, PUT IT AWAY!

One of the most effective strategies is the 'one-touch rule,' where you aim to handle items only once – putting them directly in their designated place rather than setting them down temporarily. Incorporate storage solutions like baskets and shelves to help you keep frequently used items within easy reach. For instance, use a basket near the door for shoes and bags to prevent clutter from building up. Also, involve everyone in your living space by establishing a 'clean-as-you-go' habit, encouraging each person to take responsibility for their space. Creating a cleaning schedule can also help maintain order. Dedicate specific days for decluttering different areas of your home. A systematic approach will make tidying feel less overwhelming and more manageable. Additionally, consider the psychological benefits of a clean space; studies have shown that a tidy environment can reduce stress levels and promote a sense of control and accomplishment. Embrace minimalism by evaluating your belongings regularly. Ask yourself if you truly need each item and let go of things that no longer serve a purpose. This not only declutters your space but also simplifies your decision-making in daily life. By adopting these practical tidying strategies, you'll cultivate a serene atmosphere that allows for greater focus and creativity.
