Step-by-Step Shaving Routine

It took me a while to figure out a routine that worked for me. But when I did it gave me the smoothest shave with no irritation or ingrown hairs

1. To limit infection, the first step is cleaning my skin thoroughly with antibacterial soap

2. To get a smooth shave, avoid ingrown hairs, and strawberry skin, exfoliating before I shave, is a MUST! (I exfoliate my entire body)

3. Now it’s time to shave. For down there 🐱 I use the Gillette Venus for Pub1c Hair razor and the Extra Smooth Sensitive razor for my underarms. Using different razors for different parts of my body keeps me clean w/o transferring bacteria. The shaving foam really doesn’t matter as long as it doesn’t irritate the skin.

4. Lastly, I use either the cotton pads or drops on all the areas I shaved. Then I always follow it with the matching lotion. I do this for three days straight, after I shave to prevent ingrown hair

Avoiding the transfer of bacteria by using different razors on distinct body areas has kept my skin healthier and bump-free. When it comes to shaving foam or gel, products like Skintimate’s Flamingo Foaming Shave Gel or Raspberry Rain Foaming Shave Cream offer moisturizing protection without irritating sensitive skin. I’ve learned that the key is selecting formulations without harsh chemicals or allergens. Post-shave care cannot be overlooked. Applying specialized treatments such as ingrown hair gels with ingredients like lemongrass and green tea, followed by hydrating lotions containing shea butter and natural extracts, keeps the skin nourished and prevents redness or bumps. I consistently use cotton pads or drops to gently soothe shaved areas for three days after shaving, a practice that significantly reduces ingrown hairs. Finally, patience and consistency are essential. Adopting this routine gradually helped me achieve smooth, healthy skin, eliminating irritation and bumps. If you’re prone to ingrown hairs, consider incorporating dermatologist-tested body moisturizers that also inhibit hair regrowth for a longer-lasting smooth finish. Sharing this routine feels valuable because mindful shaving is an excellent form of selfcare that enhances both hygiene and confidence.
