The Hardest Part of Growth Is Letting Go of Who You Used to Be

For a long time, I thought learning new skills was something younger people did.

I thought technology was moving too fast.

I thought AI was for tech experts.

I thought digital products were for influencers.

I thought I had missed my chance.

Maybe you’ve felt that way too.

But here’s what I’m starting to realize…

The women who are thriving right now aren’t always the smartest.

They aren’t always the most experienced.

They aren’t always the most talented.

They’re simply willing to learn.

Willing to ask questions.

Willing to make mistakes.

Willing to be beginners.

Willing to try something new even when they don’t have everything figured out.

For years, I thought confidence came first.

Now I think confidence comes from taking action.

One lesson.

One skill.

One small step.

Over and over again.

That’s what I’m doing at 53.

Not because I know everything.

Not because I’m naturally gifted.

But because I refuse to let fear decide what my future looks like.

If you’re a woman over 40 who is learning, rebuilding, growing, reinventing yourself, or creating new opportunities for your future…

I’m cheering for you. 🤍

Your next chapter doesn’t require perfection.

It requires a beginning.

Would you learn a new skill if it could create more options for your future?

SAVE this for someone who this can help 🤍

6/2 Edited to

... Read moreStarting to learn new skills later in life can feel intimidating, especially when you think technology is evolving too quickly or that certain fields like AI or digital products are only for younger experts or influencers. But from my own journey, I can tell you that growth knows no age limit. I realized that the key isn’t being the smartest or the most talented—it’s simply having the courage to start as a beginner and to persist through small, consistent steps. Using tools like Canva and exploring digital products, I found that learning isn’t just about mastering a platform but about shifting your mindset to progress over perfection. Even at 53, every week I add a new skill to my toolbox, rebuilding my confidence along the way. I learn to trust the process, be patient, and allow myself to make mistakes without judgement. One vital lesson is that confidence follows action, not the other way around. When you commit to learning one lesson at a time, you gradually create more options for your future. If you’ve ever felt you missed your chance, remember that growth is about new beginnings, not perfect endings. There’s immense power in saying yes to learning something new—even if you feel like it’s outside your comfort zone. I encourage women over 40 to embrace this growth mindset. Whether you’re rebuilding your career, exploring digital skills, or reinventing yourself, progress happens when you dare to start imperfectly and keep going. Your future is shaped by the courage to let go of who you used to be and to welcome the possibilities ahead. Keep growing at your own pace—your next chapter is waiting.

That's exactly where I'm finding myself these days! And at 55 (in August) I started feeling like it was too late to start something new. Then I reminded myself that my life isn't over, it's really just begun. My husband passed away, my children are all grown up and moved away, it's time for me to invest some time and energy into me. I spent a lifetime giving all my energy to make sure that everyone else had what they needed to pursue their passion, now it's time for me to do the same for myself! Thanks for your post, I needed that reminder today!!🌸💞🥰

The Truth About Growth No One Talks About.
Everyone celebrates the glow-up. Very few talk about what happens before it. Growth often looks like: * Walking away from people you thought would always be there. * Outgrowing old versions of yourself. * Feeling lonely before you feel peaceful. * Choosing healing, even when it hurts.
