I love to propagate! Look at all those roots 💚🪴

3/26 Edited to

... Read moreSharing my personal journey with plant propagation has been truly fulfilling. Watching tiny cuttings develop roots over time offers a sense of accomplishment and connection to nature that is hard to match. I usually start by selecting healthy stems and making clean cuts to encourage growth. Placing these cuttings in water or moist soil helps roots sprout within a couple of weeks, and observing the tiny white roots emerge is always exciting. One trick I've found is to change the water every few days if rooting in water to prevent bacterial growth, which can harm the cutting. Keeping the cuttings near indirect sunlight but away from harsh direct rays also promotes healthier root development. Additionally, using rooting hormone powders or gels can significantly improve success rates, especially with harder-to-root plants. Propagation not only expands your plant collection at minimal cost but also teaches patience and attentiveness. It’s fascinating to see how different species respond to propagation—some root quickly, while others take longer. Through trial and error, you develop a deeper understanding of each plant’s preferences and needs. For anyone new to this, I recommend starting with easy-to-root plants like pothos, spider plants, or philodendrons. They are quite resilient and often thrive with basic care. Over time, you gain confidence to try propagating more challenging species, deepening your knowledge and love for plants. Overall, propagation is a rewarding hobby that blends nurturing care and the science of plant growth. It connects you directly with the life cycle of plants and brings a fresh vibrancy to your living spaces.
