Jesus came to save, to heal, to restore and to redeem and venting allows for none of that.
Often times a mind that vents, isn’t challenged, but only wants to vent.
Jesus knows you! He knows what He can do and what you’re capable to do through Him who gives you strength, Phil. 4:13z
Does that stop me from venting to Him?
Not at all!... and here’s why:
When Jesus went to the invalid man who was waiting for his healing for years, the invalid man began to explain to Jesus why he was there and what he was waiting for.
Yes, Jesus had asked him if he wanted to be made well but at the invalid’s answer, Jesus didn’t just pull up a chair or a mat next to this invalid man to listen to his reasoning and just comfort him.
In this particular moment, it isn’t recorded that He joined in the complaint, ask for details of what got him there…
Jesus didn’t talk about where the pain was, what was his level of pain, what made it worse, who was at fault, or say things like, “I’m so sorry you’re going through this”, “I can’t believe all that you’re going through”, “This is not fair”, “I can’t believe no one has helped you” and not that these can’t ever be said...
But sometimes commanding action is more important than the details.
We can dwell on the pain, our position, or our circumstances or we can do one of two things...
1. Obey the words of Jesus to get up, pick up our mat and walk
2. Look at our circumstances as a righteous judgement of God, challenging us and testing our faith, to consider each one of us worthy of the kingdom of God through steadfastness and endurance in faith through all afflictions and circumstances, 2 Thessalonians 2:4-5.
They are both good for us!

From my experience, learning to move beyond venting toward active faith truly changes one’s spiritual journey. Venting often feels like a release, but it can sometimes trap us in our struggles instead of propelling us forward. Reflecting on the story of the invalid man, I realized how Jesus focused on action rather than just hearing complaints. This taught me that when we fixate on pain or unfairness, we can miss the moment to act on God’s guidance. In daily life, I try to remember Philippians 4:13 — "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This verse reminds me that strength is found not in dwelling on problems, but in trusting and acting through God’s power. Also, considering trials as tests of faith like in 2 Thessalonians 2:4-5 helps to reframe hardships as opportunities for spiritual maturation rather than endless reasons to vent. Importantly, venting to God can be part of an honest prayer life, but pairing this with listening and obedience deepens the healing process. It’s helpful to talk honestly to God about feelings but then to seek His direction and commit to walking forward in faith, just as the invalid was told to get up and walk. Practicing this balance has blessed my days with renewed hope and strength. Lastly, embracing words like "HOPE" (as highlighted in the article image) encourages us to focus on positive faith outcomes. Hope anchors us when feelings swirl, helping us choose action rooted in God’s promises instead of falling into passive venting. This approach invites God’s blessings into everyday struggles and promotes lasting restoration and healing.
