Jonathan Mission, an artist who records the shapes, colors, and spaces of society through abstract artwork. His works not only present the beauty of fluid and colorful shapes, but also provide a space for the audience to question and interpret and hide social, political, and life-space issues, such as the Body of Space exhibition that questions urban public spaces that gradually disappear and affect people's behavior, or the reMinders series of works that speak symbolically of memory and politics, so his work is both a memoir of feelings and a critique of society through art.
For "Across the Universe," this exhibition is inspired by the journey of painting through time and belief, from the cave walls of ancient humans, the murals in monasteries, to the contemporary abstract images presented in the exhibition space. The artist believes that painting is not just an object of sight, but a space of belief, experience and co-existence with humans. This series is a follow-up to the series of works, The Master, which he used to study and process the inspiration of Thai murals, to explore the origins of painting art as a space connecting humans to the universe.
Within the exhibition, we will encounter large-scale works, the use of a variety of shades of color, the obscurity of the shapes, the dense traces of drawing and texture, allowing the works not to stop just looking, but also to sense the artist's action power.
Each work is not created to tell a story, but an experience of obscurity, like faith without guidance, like a natural phenomenon as intricate as tide, music from afar, the light of the sun, or even the teachings of the Prophet, asking through the work why, since we have never clearly understood the universe, man exists in its midst in faith and the pursuit of meaning.
