Let's bring Mr. Kobayashi a pink cat to Inside Space.
"Inside Space," an exhibition that invites us to get to know "Mr. Kobayashi," the pink cat who hides the story of invisible space by Takehiro Iikawa.
Takehiro Ikawa, a contemporary artist from Kobe, Japan, who created works under the concept of 'Decorator Crab'. Inspired by the behavior of crabs that use their surroundings to decorate their shells to camouflage them, the artist expanded the art language, borrowed the elements and space around them, decorated them, and created a new meaning, emphasizing the interaction between the space and the audience, because in his view, art can only be completed if someone becomes part of it.
"Inside Space" is Ikawa's first trip to Thailand. At the heart of this exhibition is "Mr. Kobayashi," a bright pink cat, a color that is not found in nature but attracts people. Kobayashi is not only a cute cartoon character, but a representation of incomplete vision, because no matter what angle we look at, there is no way to see it at once. Sometimes there is always something hidden.
Previous to his trip to Bangkok, Kobayashi appeared at the Decorator Crab: Occurring Simultaneously or Awareness Being Delayed at the Hakone Open-Air Museum in Japan. Kobayashi is hidden among the trees and natural landscapes of the Hakone Open-Air Museum. The audience has to slowly explore and find out. Reflecting on the fact that human communication and perception are imperfect, we often understand only some of the things, just as no one can see Kobayashi in all dimensions.
Inside the exhibition "Inside Space," in addition to Kobayashi's paintings, there are images of the artist's first actors based on real people in his life, teachers, friends, and intimates. These works are like emotional caricatures that tell the artist's relationship with the people around him through simple shapes, colorful colors, and humor.
One of the artist's intentions was to create a large installation of Kobayashi (600 × wide, 400 × high, 80 meters thick) to set up in Bangkok, at a point in the city where something can hide, and let Kobayashi become part of the Bangkok landscape.
"Inside Space" is not just about looking at a pink cat's painting, it's about inviting the audience into the same space as it. Every image, every view, is designed for the audience to move, to look, to question what they see.
Let's get to know you, Kobayashi, the pink cat who hides the truth in cuteness, walks into "Inside Space" and asks yourself if we really see things around us or just see them the way we want to see them.

นิทรรศการ Inside Space ของทาเคฮิโระ อิคาวะ ได้นำเสนอความคิดสร้างสรรค์ที่ใช้แมวสีชมพูชื่อ Mr. Kobayashi เป็นตัวแทนของเรื่องราวพื้นที่ที่เราไม่สามารถเห็นหรือรับรู้ได้ครบถ้วนในชีวิตประจำวัน สีชมพูสดนี้ซึ่งไม่พบในธรรมชาตินั้นดึงดูดสายตาและกระตุ้นให้เกิดความสงสัย ผู้ชมสามารถสัมผัสประสบการณ์ร่วมผ่านผลงานศิลปะทั้งภาพวาดและ installation ขนาดใหญ่ ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในสถานที่ที่มีสิ่งบังสายตาบางส่วน เพื่อชวนผู้ชมตั้งคำถามว่าเรามองเห็นสิ่งรอบตัวในมุมมองที่แท้จริงหรือเพียงแค่รับรู้ในแบบที่เราอยากเห็น การใช้องค์ประกอบศิลปะแบบ 'Decorator Crab' ที่ดัดแปลงมาจากพฤติกรรมของปูที่นำสิ่งรอบตัวมาตกแต่งเปลือก ช่วยสร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพื้นที่กับผู้ชมอย่างลึกซึ้ง ทำให้งานศิลปะมีชีวิตและความหมาย การที่งานนี้เคยจัดแสดงใน Hakone Open-Air Museum ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ซึ่งซ่อนแมว Mr. Kobayashi ท่ามกลางธรรมชาติ ยังสะท้อนถึงความไม่สมบูรณ์ของการรับรู้และการสื่อสารของมนุษย์ ที่มักจะรู้ข้อมูลเพียงบางส่วนเท่านั้น ที่ Galerie Monument บนถนนทรงวาด กรุงเทพฯ คุณ Kobayashi จะกลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของภูมิทัศน์เมือง ผ่าน installation ขนาดใหญ่ กว้าง 600 เมตร สูง 400 เมตร และหนา 80 เมตร ซึ่งชวนให้ผู้เข้าชมเคลื่อนไหวและมองสิ่งรอบตัวในมุมที่แตกต่าง เป็นการเปิดประสบการณ์ใหม่ที่ผสมผสานศิลปะกับความคิดเชิงปรัชญาอย่างลงตัว นอกจากนี้ ภายในนิทรรศการยังมีภาพวาดของตัวละครต่าง ๆ ที่ศิลปินสร้างขึ้นจากบุคคลจริงในชีวิต และแฝงด้วยอารมณ์ขันและความสัมพันธ์อย่างเป็นกันเอง ช่วยให้ผู้ชมรู้สึกใกล้ชิดกับผลงานมากขึ้น โดยนิทรรศการเปิดให้เข้าชมฟรีตั้งแต่วันนี้จนถึงวันที่ 31 ธันวาคม 2568 เปิดให้บริการวันอังคารถึงวันอาทิตย์ เวลา 11.00 - 17.00 น. เหมาะสำหรับผู้ที่สนใจศิลปะสมัยใหม่และการสำรวจมุมมองที่ซ่อนเร้นในชีวิตประจำวัน
