15th White Elephant Art - Continue, Heal, Capped
When Thai contemporary art uses its roots as its precursor and "extension" as its answer, it explores works of art that convey the value and reinterpretation of culture through the 15th exhibition "White Elephant Art."
This exhibition is part of the 15th White Elephant Art Contest for 2026, held under the theme of "Continue, Heal, Continue," opening up a space for Thai artists to convey their ideas about preserving the same values, passing on wisdom, and evolving into a new context. A total of 469 works from 367 artists were selected and 21 won.
The works in this exhibition reflect the diversity of Thai contemporary art through many forms, such as painting, sculpture, prints, mixed media works, and contemporary works, and so on. Many works do not stick to the original form, but to a new interpretation of what already exists, so that the word "succession" does not mean standstill, but transition.
The White Elephant Award goes to the "branches of the age" of the era. The sculpture of the metal fibers that knit and gravel into a golden tree conveys the growth of the culture from a foundation to a branching in the new era, while the "Doi Tong" award of the merit has a funny light, uses traditional mezzotint printing techniques to convey a shiny light dimension so thoroughly that it creates a living landscape. The "Made in Thailand" of Erinda Mug Suwan, which won the Lady Wanna Siriwat Loyal, uses embroidery as a representation of cultural fibers and relationships between people, and the "New Life 2025" of Ruapeun. The CEO Award's owner, Ratanapi Bullay, used acrylic painting to shape shower dots to reflect the cycle of life, rebirth, and the continuation of existence.
This exhibition reflects the various ways of thinking of individual artists, some choose to use traditional techniques to tell new stories, some use contemporary materials to reflect their roots, some question the meaning of inheritance, turning the exhibition into a space open to us that art does not have a single answer, but is full of possibilities.
On the other hand, this exhibition also serves as a space for us to see the potential of Thai artists and expand our imagination of how far art can go.

การได้เยี่ยมชมนิทรรศการศิลปกรรมช้างเผือก ครั้งที่ 15 นับเป็นประสบการณ์ที่เปิดโลกศิลปะร่วมสมัยในบริบทวัฒนธรรมไทยอย่างลึกซึ้ง งานศิลปะในนิทรรศการนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการสืบสานและรักษารากเหง้าวัฒนธรรมไทยที่ถูกตีความใหม่ผ่านสื่อและเทคนิคต่าง ๆ ซึ่งไม่ใช่เพียงการรักษาแบบดั้งเดิม แต่ยังเป็นการต่อยอดและการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่สร้างสรรค์และสดใหม่ หนึ่งในความโดดเด่นของงานนี้คือการผสมผสานศิลปะในหลายรูปแบบ เช่น จิตรกรรม ประติมากรรม ภาพพิมพ์ และงานหัตถศิลป์ร่วมสมัย ที่ไม่ยึดติดกับรูปแบบเดิม ๆ ทำให้เราสัมผัสได้ถึงทิศทางของศิลปะไทยที่มีความยืดหยุ่นและเปิดกว้างต่อการทดลอง ตัวอย่างผลงานที่ชนะรางวัลอย่าง “กิ่งก้านแห่งยุคสมัย” ใช้เส้นใยโลหะถักทอเป็นต้นไม้สีทอง สื่อถึงการเติบโตและแตกแขนงของวัฒนธรรมจากรากฐาน ซึ่งเป็นแนวคิดที่ลึกซึ้งและสะท้อนภาพรวมของวันศิลปกรรมช้างเผือกได้ดีมาก นอกจากนี้ นิทรรศการยังให้ความรู้สึกว่าเป็นเวทีสำหรับศิลปินไทยรุ่นใหม่ในการแสดงออกถึงศักยภาพ พร้อมท้าทายขอบเขตและความคิดสร้างสรรค์ของตนเองและผู้ชม ถือเป็นโอกาสที่ดีที่จะได้เข้าใจและเชื่อมโยงกับวัฒนธรรมผ่านสายตาของศิลปินร่วมสมัย และเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้กับผู้ที่รักและสนใจในการสร้างสรรค์งานศิลปะ ในฐานะผู้ชม การเข้าเยี่ยมชมศิลปกรรมช้างเผือกครั้งนี้ทำให้เกิดความรู้สึกถึงการเดินทางผ่านประวัติศาสตร์และอนาคตของศิลปะไทยอย่างแท้จริง นี่คือการผสมผสานของอดีตและความทันสมัยที่บอกเล่าเรื่องราวของสังคมไทยอย่างลึกซึ้งและเป็นเอกลักษณ์อย่างมาก
