Buddhist · Fabric · Ghost: Woven Roy, Faith Pattern - Explore the Cultural Roots of the Thai Yuan Ratchaburi
When "Sin" is not just a garment, it is a language that records both faith, memory and people's lives in every yarn.
"Buddhist · Fabric · Ghost: Woven Roy, Faith Pattern," an exhibition that takes us back to explore the cultural roots of the Thai people of Yuan Ratchaburi through a "foot skirt" that reflects both belief, lifestyle and wisdom passed down from generation to generation.
For the Thai Yuan people, one Sin is like a Thai Yuan woman's life notebook. All motifs are made not just for beauty, but also for faith, ritual, and community lifestyle, from household weaving, wearing merit, traditional work, to passing the cloth from mother to offspring.
Inside the exhibition, we will find tins from three important families: Kubu, Nong Po-Bang Kado and Don Mineral, each unique.
▪️ "Kubu" is characterized by sheer stripes, using red, yellow, green on black or indigo, making the pattern look clear and lively.
▪️ "Nong Po-Bang Kado" is similar to the Kubu family, but there are different details of the pattern and arrangement, especially the long-tailed bird pattern, so soft that many people see it as influenced by northern and Tai Phun native fabrics.
▪️ "Don Mineral" is unique with tight stripes filling the area, used mainly red, wide-seared feet and intricate details, reflecting the high skills of community weavers.
The exhibition also invites us to view the fabric as a language of faith and inspiration that is alive today, through the "Buddhist" of faith, the "wisdom" and the "ghost" of people's memories and rituals, all of which are connected through the yarns, beliefs and lifestyles of the Thai people that are still inherited to this day.
And then explore and decipher the hidden life behind weaving through the fibers, memories, and time that weave people and wisdom into one of the key identities of the royal family at "Buddhist · Fabric · Ghost: Wove, Faith Pattern."
