Things I’m Loving
When you wrap sage, you’re tying intention. This has been the most therapeutic practice I’ve done thus far. And; taking to roosters; “who would have thought?” Infusing herbs has always been my passion, but concocting on a weekly has been the best challenging commitment. These are the small things that anchor me.They keep me soft, aware, and awake.
Every now and then, I pause long enough to notice what’s been loving me back.
Bundling Sage
This act itself becomes a meditation.
Each twist of twine seals an intention, each breath becomes a quiet prayer. All you need is a focal point while you seal your sage bundle.
Why bundle it yourself?
Because energy begins in the making.
When your hands touch the leaves, you imprint them with presence — your mood, your prayers, your energy.
It becomes yours before it ever burns.
Sage has been used for centuries to cleanse energy and space; It’s not just for the scent or the smoke, but for its spirit. It teaches release.
When I bundle, I’m not just making something to burn; I’m bundling gratitude, forgiveness, and clarity.
The thread holds what I’m ready to let go of and what I’m ready to invite in.
Talking to My Roosters
Every morning, my roosters remind me that loud noises and sound is ok. Their rooster calls in the early rising is now music to my ears. The discipline that it forces me to get up and do has been amazing! Talking to them feels like keeping balance with the land, almost like a way of remembering that we’re not separate from what we tend.
What I’m learning about my Fellas is what I call them.
1. Protection: They guard the hens and alert the yard when something’s off; teaching awareness.
2. Fertility: Their presence encourages balance and reproduction in the flock, which sustains the cycle of life.
3. Soil Nourishment: Their foraging turns the soil, aerating it naturally while controlling insects. I’ve never touched soil so rich!
Infusing Herbs
Back in the lineage of the African diaspora, our grandmothers carried knowledge in their hands: basil for protection, rosemary for remembrance, mint for the spirit’s cooling. Infusing herbs was how they spoke healing into oil, water, and tea.
I infuse to remember.
To honor the women who healed with what they had leaves, roots, sunlight, and prayer.
When herbs sit in oil, they teach patience. They show how stillness transforms.
Each jar on my counter is a quiet rebellion and a return to natural wisdom. It’s a reminder that healing doesn’t have to come in a bottle with a barcode.
These are the things I’ve been loving lately.
Little acts that reconnect me to who I am and where I come from.
The kind of love that doesn’t ask for much, I’m truly understanding the saying “It’s the little things”
What’s been loving you lately?

Incorporating mindful rituals such as sage bundling, engaging with nature through daily interaction with roosters, and infusing herbs into your lifestyle offers a profound pathway to reconnect with yourself and the environment. Bundling sage is more than a craft; it serves as a meditative act where each twist and breath seals an intention, fostering gratitude, forgiveness, and clarity. The practice imparts unique energy because your presence is imprinted onto the leaves, transforming the bundle into a personal symbol of release and spiritual cleansing. Furthermore, embracing the sounds and rhythms of roosters fosters a deeper awareness and connection to the land. Roosters play essential roles in protection, fertility, and naturally enriching the soil by aerating it and controlling pests. This connection reminds us that we are part of a larger ecosystem, encouraging a harmonious balance between humans and nature. Herbal infusions honor the ancestral wisdom carried through generations, especially within the African diaspora. Herbs like basil, rosemary, and mint hold cultural significance, offering protection, memory, and spiritual cooling. Infusing these herbs into oils, teas, or waters teaches patience and calm as the transformative magic unfolds over time. Such infusions symbolize a return to natural remedies and healing traditions beyond commercial products. Incorporating these elements cultivates soft awareness and grounding in the present moment. They are small yet powerful acts that nurture a non-toxic, intentional lifestyle. This approach encourages slowing down to appreciate simple joys and the natural world’s healing properties. By embracing these practices regularly, you create a space for personal growth, spiritual awareness, and holistic well-being. What rituals or natural practices help you stay centered and connected in your daily life? Sharing these moments can inspire others to explore mindful living and cherishing the little things that nurture our souls.
