Backstory: so my mom took this video yesterday morning and sent it to me while i was working. She said he had been sitting on her bed talking to my grandma’s ashes that are on top of her dresser for about 20 minutes. There’s a spot in my house next to where i keep a necklace full of some of her ashes that he loves to play in. He’s always playing, laughing and looking up in that same spot. My grandma passed when he was 10 days old, fighting for his life in the Nicu (he was 17 weeks early and only weighed 15 ounces) and she never got to meet him, in the physical form. I strongly believe she left this earth (cardiac arrest outta nowhere and the ambulance caught a flat tire rushing to her, preventing them from reaching her in a timely manner) and got to heaven and talked to God for me…cuz i would breakdown and pray to him and her to help my baby get healthy and survive…if she is his angel, he has a good one. I love you grandma. I miss you so much. Tell God thank you from the bottom of my heart 🤍🙏
This story of love and connection through loss truly highlights the profound ways in which we find comfort during challenging moments. Having experienced the NICU journey myself with a premature baby, I can deeply relate to the feelings of anxiety and hope wrapped up in every day. When physical presence isn’t possible, the belief that a loved one — like a grandmother — watches over us as a guardian angel can provide immense emotional support. Many families keep mementos such as ashes, necklaces, or special items to maintain that bond and feel close to those they’ve lost. Children especially might gravitate toward these objects, sensing a comforting presence even if they can’t quite understand it. It’s remarkable how such connections can bring laughter and smiles, demonstrating the subtle ways love and memory live on. The phrase from the photo, “Do you believe in Angels?” resonates powerfully here, urging us to recognize the invisible support around us. Whether it’s faith, spiritual connection, or the comforting rituals we create, these experiences remind us that hope and love transcend physical barriers. This story also emphasizes the unpredictable nature of life and the strength gained through faith — in family, in angels, or in the power of prayer — to navigate its uncertainties. For anyone caring for a premature baby or coping with loss, these heartfelt moments highlight the importance of embracing every small sign of hope and connection. It encourages us to cherish the unseen guardians in our lives and trust that they guide and protect us in mysterious, beautiful ways.
