2024 books so far and a little background of me 😊
My goal this year has been 12 books. However we are only 11.5 weeks into the year and I may end doubling it at the rate I’m going.
Started off the year finishing the second “Never say never” book by Lauren Landish. It was good… not as good as the first book but good. I struggled HARD to get through it.
Next, I read the sample to “Fourth Wing” and immediately bought it (because it wasn’t on kindle unlimited). And as soon as I was 95% into it I bought “Iron Flame”… 5 ⭐️ and worth the hype!!! Rebecca Yarros did a great job and I’m ANXIOUSLY awaiting the next book!! I will definitely be preordering the second it’s available!!!
After unpausing kindle unlimited and searching for my next book to read, I settled on the Crowns of Nyaxia duology… it was such a slow burn… when they slow burn… it’s literally the slowest of slow burns, enemies to lovers I’ve read so far but overall 4⭐️ and I wish the couple’s story continued considering all the events that don’t fully play out. I don’t know how to describe it better than that without giving spoilers cause I HATE spoilers so I will NEVER give them.
{Quick backstory: I’m a stay at home mom and my daughter has autism and is an only child (for now) so she only has me to play with and talk to (or talk the best she can). Every free moment that I am not cleaning, cooking, teaching, learning, or doing anything that involves the typical mom/wifey stuff I like to read. All my books are on the kindle as it’s easier to take with me everywhere I go; ie kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc. The most amount of reading I tend to get in is when she wants to watch a movie or when I put her to bed. Unfortunately she needs a little bit of coaxing to fall asleep still so I will lay with her, rub her back till she falls asleep or is so drowsy that she won’t notice me leaving… while rubbing her back I’ll read… sometimes she take 10 minutes before she’s passed out but on overstimulating days she tends to take up to an hour. Best kid ever even with the occasional tantrums and freak outs. She’s 8 and will be 9 this summer.}

My next read was the 'Crowns of Nyaxia' duology, a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers tale that keeps you turning the pages despite its slow pacing. I give it four stars, wishing for more of their story! Balancing reading with family life, especially with a child navigating autism, has its unique challenges but strengthens our bond. When my daughter is occupied with a movie or during her bedtime routine, I seize the moment to delve into my books. These little escapes into literary worlds help me unwind and offer insights to share with fellow book lovers. For other parents out there, it's crucial to find time for yourselves while caring for your children.
