back story… our 5 year old has been sleeping in our bed for nearly 2 years we had done the whole sleep training thing and at the time that worked for us but I’m so happy he now wants to be in our bed it’s mostly because his baby sister (18m) sleeps in the crib till around 1-4am then I bring her into our bed to nurse her and then we all get to snuggle and wake up together and it literally starts our morning with so much love and joy. There’s no perfect way to parent and people are always trying shame moms and families for co sleeping but just follow what’s best for your family 🫶💕
Co-sleeping is a deeply personal choice for many families, and from my experience, it has transformed our nighttime routine into cherished moments of connection. When my children wake up together, it really is the best feeling in the world, as the image perfectly captures — waking up next to your babies brings a special joy that starts the day on a positive note. Like many parents, we initially tried traditional sleep training methods, but over time, we realized that what worked on paper didn’t always match our family’s needs. Our 5-year-old transitioning back to our bed felt natural, especially considering the baby’s late-night feedings. Bringing her into the bed after she wakes up not only helps with nursing but also turns our shared space into a cozy nest where we all find comfort. There can be societal pressures or judgments about co-sleeping, but ultimately, listening to your own family’s rhythm is what matters. For us, this practice has meant more restful nights and mornings filled with warmth and love. It’s important to create an environment where everyone feels secure and loved, and co-sleeping has allowed that intimacy. If you’re considering co-sleeping, safety should always be a priority—ensuring the sleeping area is free from hazards and comfortable for everyone involved. Sharing these personal experiences reminds me that parenting isn’t about perfection; it’s about love, adaptability, and creating a space where your family can thrive together.
