Historic Cold Spring Village

Historic Cold Spring village is just 10 minutes from Cape May and is the Largest Open-Air Living History Museum in New Jersey!

It was beautiful weather for a fun family day walking the grounds, visiting the animals, and eating some ice cream while seeing how baskets and tools were made by hand in the 1800s.

... Read moreHistoric Cold Spring Village is renowned for its authentic living history experience, allowing visitors to step into the 19th century and witness traditional crafts such as basket weaving and tool making. One highlight is the Foodways & Folk Life Weekend, a popular event celebrating the region’s agricultural heritage with demonstrations on cultivating fresh, organic produce. Visitors, including families with children, can enjoy activities like harvesting cucumbers, plums, and tomatoes, reflecting the early farming lifestyle. Beyond the crafts and produce, the village's open-air museum features original historic buildings meticulously preserved and staffed by interpreters who bring small town America’s past to life. The educational environment is enriched by the presence of farm animals, which add to the immersive experience for all ages. For those planning a visit, the village’s proximity to Cape May makes it a convenient stop for travelers interested in combining historical exploration with coastal tourism. The village also supports local donations to sustain organic farming efforts, encouraging community engagement and sustainable practices. Whether you are interested in history, agriculture, or immersive family activities, Historic Cold Spring Village offers a unique glimpse into New Jersey’s rich cultural past, making it a top destination for both educational outings and leisurely exploration near Cape May.
