Reflection Time
A question has been floating around in my head for the last week: How do you know if you’re blocking your own blessings? I am guilty of talking myself out of things because I feel I’m not worthy to receive the potential blessings it may bring. This is true in relationships as well. I’m taking time to reflect on my role in past relationships and analyzing ways I could have done things better. I am also looking at things that I allowed that God never intended for me to carry.
Sometimes I think I may have had MY PERSON in my life but for whatever reason I was not ready for him so I talked myself out of being with him. Then just when you think you’re over them, they pop up out of the blue (again and again). Over and over again I oblige the conversation but they get so intense that I put up a shield and run away. I run away because they force me to look at the ugliness of me and they uphold me to standards God set for me since the beginning of time. They force me to be accountable and my human side don’t like what I see, so I cut off communication instead of working with them to become a more Christ-led individual.
I used to call this person my Blessing and my Curse. My blessing because when I start getting too deep into things that pull me further from God, they pop up and give me tough love…my curse because, they give me TOUGH LOVE!! (Go figure) Tough love that I was too ashamed of myself to admit that I actually needed at the time.
So my prayer now is instead of seeing this man as a Blessing and a Curse, for God to show me CLARITY. Have I been putting MY HUSBAND off because of my distorted views of what love actually is? I’ll be 44 in April and have NEVER been married but that’s been my dream since I was a teenager. Now, I just need answers and for God to FIX ME so that I am delivered and can accept my fate.
