It's not just a meal; it's an interactive eating experience that my kids absolutely adore. If you're looking to turn frowns into smiles at the dinner table, you've got to try this! First things first, getting the mashed potatoes just right is key to a sturdy volcano. I've found that using Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes works best because they get wonderfully fluffy. Boil them until they're fork-tender, then drain them thoroughly. For that perfect volcano consistency, I mash them with a generous knob of butter, a splash of warm milk (or cream for extra richness!), and a pinch of salt and pepper. You want them smooth but still thick enough to hold their shape – not too runny! Some people even add a bit of cream cheese for extra stability and flavor. Next up, the stars of the show: the dino nuggets. While they can be baked or air-fried, I personally prefer the air fryer for maximum crispiness. Pop them in for about 10-12 minutes at 400°F (200°C), shaking the basket halfway, until they're golden brown and perfectly crunchy. This is a brilliant way to sneak in some extra veggies without any complaints. You can also vary the shapes – maybe a mashed potato mountain range with nuggets tucked into valleys?
