How to spend a slow week in Shanghai💐

Michelin star lunches, DiDi rides, wholesale markets, vintage finds, and photo spots the algorithm hasn’t touched yet. I moved at my own pace, spent my last hours doing exactly what I wanted, and caught a bullet train to my next destination without a single compromise.

This is what travel looks like when you stop waiting for the right person, the right time, or the right budget myth to dissolve.

... Read moreDuring my slow week in Shanghai, embracing the unhurried pace really enhanced my experience. One evening, I landed at 8 pm and skipped the typical hotel check-in chaos by heading straight to a 24-hour spa. The eucalyptus steam room, indulgent crab and caviar dishes, and sipping Cabernet Sauvignon for 16 hours of pure relaxation reminded me why slow travel is the perfect antidote to fast-paced tours. Getting around the city was a breeze with DiDi rides costing less than $20, even in luxury cars like a Maybach. Walking from the Bund to Qipu Road and wandering through Yu Garden and the market district made me appreciate Shanghai’s walkability and vibrant streets without the stress of traffic. One of the highlights was spending my final hours treasure hunting for vintage gems in hidden shops before catching the bullet train to my next destination. There was no hurried airport frenzy—just leisurely browsing through racks of unique finds and soaking up the local vibe. This personal approach to Shanghai allowed me to connect deeper with the city’s culture and rhythm. It’s a reminder that travel shouldn't be about rushing from place to place but savoring moments and discovering things beyond algorithmized recommendations. For anyone wanting to slow down and explore Shanghai authentically, focus on combining comfort, local experiences, and flexibility—don’t wait for everything to be perfect, just start your journey.
