WATER MOON BOOK REVIEW🌸✨

Here are my full thoughts on Water Moon:

“Water Moon” feels like it would make an incredible movie. The world-building is rich, whimsical, and dreamy, with vivid details that bring its setting to life. I loved the variety of ideas and adventures woven throughout the story, and I could easily picture it as a visually stunning film.

However, as a book, it sometimes felt like there was too much happening. The pacing was inconsistent—at times too slow, at times just right, and occasionally, things escalated so quickly that I actually said, “Woah.” This uneven flow made it hard to fully settle into the story.

Another aspect that stood out immediately was the dialogue, which often felt awkward and unnatural. It made certain interactions feel uncomfortable rather than engaging.

That said, despite the overall predictability, I was still pleasantly surprised by some of the twists. Even when I saw certain developments coming, the way they unfolded kept me entertained.

Overall, while the book had its flaws, its imaginative world and adventurous spirit made it a worthwhile read. And if it ever got adapted into a movie? I’d definitely be watching!

Have you read this book? What did you think?

... Read moreAfter diving into 'Water Moon' by Samantha Sotto Yambao, I'm still buzzing with thoughts! This book truly felt like an escape, transporting me to a world that was both familiar and utterly fantastical. The author's imagination shines through, crafting a setting that felt incredibly rich, whimsical, and undeniably dreamy. For me, the world-building was the absolute highlight – it's a place where myth intertwines with reality, and every corner holds a whisper of magic, making it a joy to explore. Let's talk about the book's presentation too, because it’s stunning! The blue cover depicting a city skyline under a luminous moon with delicate paper boats floating by is just captivating. It perfectly sets the tone for the story within. And I have to mention the dust jacket – it’s so unique! I loved finding the origami folding instructions printed on it. Being able to fold my own paper boat, mirroring those central to the narrative, added such a personal and interactive touch to the reading experience. It’s details like these that really make a physical book special and connect you deeper to Samantha Sotto Yambao's vision. While the imaginative world was a triumph, I did find the pacing to be quite inconsistent. There were moments when I was absolutely glued to the pages, feeling the story unfold beautifully, and then suddenly, things would accelerate or slow down dramatically. This uneven flow sometimes made it hard for me to settle into a consistent rhythm with the narrative. Similarly, I occasionally found the dialogue to be a little stiff or unnatural. It didn't always flow as smoothly as I'd hoped, which could sometimes pull me out of the immersive world the author had so carefully built. Despite these minor hiccups, the adventure was compelling. Even when I thought I saw a twist coming, the way Samantha Sotto Yambao executed it often surprised me and kept me entertained. And honestly, as I read, I couldn't help but envision 'Water Moon' as an incredible movie. The visual potential is immense – imagine the paper boats sailing under that ethereal water moon, the breathtaking landscapes, and the vibrant characters brought to life on screen! It truly has all the ingredients for a visually stunning cinematic adaptation. I also appreciated the underlying wisdom woven throughout the story. The inspirational quotes I found myself highlighting were truly thought-provoking, adding a layer of depth that goes beyond a simple fantasy adventure. They speak to themes of resilience, the beauty in brokenness, and the power of stories. If you enjoy unique fantasy, rich world-building, and don't mind a story that takes a few unexpected narrative turns, I think 'Water Moon' could be a worthwhile read for you. It's a book that sparks conversation, and I’d love to hear what other bookwormsoflemon8 thought about it!
