Don’t bring me no horrible wig that’s used with glue still on the lace… not prepared needing time to cut old tracks from a previous used wig that’s not in good condition either all while leaving the wig cap on the tracks attached from pieces you cut. I overly communicated and was told it’s ok I just need it for tonight….
From my experience working with various wig installations, one of the biggest challenges stylists face is dealing with wigs that have remnants of glue on the lace and attached tracks that haven't been properly removed. Not only does this make the installation process time-consuming, but it can also affect the overall appearance and comfort of the wig. I've learned that certain hairstyles simply do not work well with every type of wig. For example, styles involving frontals require wigs that are specifically designed for that purpose, such as double frontals or 360 lace wigs. Traditional frontal wigs often lack the flexibility and coverage needed, especially at the back, which leads some stylists to resort to adding extra braids just to cover gaps. This inevitably results in a less natural look. Many clients underestimate the importance of bringing the correct wig for the desired style. I've found that it’s crucial for clients to communicate their needs clearly and to bring wigs in good condition—without glue residue, well-cleaned lace, and appropriate sizing—to avoid compromising the installation. Wigs that are too small or have stiff tracks on the wig cap can’t be manipulated properly, and attempts to force these into a specific style often end up looking awkward. Also, insisting on quick fixes like installing a used wig “just for one night” often leads to frustration for both the client and stylist. As someone who values delivering quality work, I always recommend investing in wigs suited for your style and ensuring they’re prepped properly. Taking the extra time to prepare—and using the right materials—results in a cleaner, more natural finish that everyone can enjoy. In conclusion, if you want a flawless wig installation and long-lasting style, avoid bringing wigs with glue residue and attached tracks that haven’t been removed. Opt for wigs made specifically for your hairstyle, and trust your stylist’s expertise to guide you toward the best choices. This approach not only saves time but also enhances the overall look, making styling a positive experience for everyone involved.
