What am I not doing?

Ive used granny square yarn with not ONE “perfect” granny square. Somebody help me figure out what I’m not doing right to get a “correct” granny square outta this yarn!

Am I crocheting too loose?

Is my slip knot making me start at the wrong point?

Should I be using a different hook bc I crochet weird?
