One cherished tradition involves baking Easter bread called 'pogača,' which brings together loved ones in the kitchen, symbolizing togetherness and hope. The anticipation of Easter Sunday fills the air as homes are decorated with vibrant symbols of life and rebirth. Moreover, Holy Week encourages us to pause and reflect on our personal journeys, consider forgiveness, and foster peace within ourselves and the community. Many Serbian families also visit cemeteries to honor their ancestors, reminding us of the importance of heritage and continuity. Sharing these traditions beyond Serbia has taught me the value of preserving cultural identity while embracing universal messages of love and renewal. Whether through prayer, family gatherings, or acts of kindness, Holy Week remains a powerful occasion to recharge spiritually and appreciate the beauty of life’s cycles.
