Surrogacy journey 🫶🏻
Embarking on a surrogacy journey involves many emotional and physical steps, especially when it comes to hormone treatments. One aspect that often surprises people is the regularity and type of injections required. From my experience, giving myself estrogen shots every three days became a routine, and although the needles look intimidating, the pain was surprisingly minimal. I remember initially worrying about poking myself with such a sizable needle, but the process quickly became manageable. Preparation also includes numerous blood tests to monitor hormone levels and ensure everything is on the right track. These tests typically happen every few days or weeks, depending on the protocol, and they provide critical feedback for adjusting medication doses. Despite minor challenges, such as dealing with dry or cracked skin around injection sites, the support from medical professionals and connecting with others undergoing surrogacy made a significant difference. Another important part of the process is mental readiness. Sharing my journey openly helped me cope with the physical toll and also connected me to a community that understands the highs and lows involved. The feeling of ‘liquid gold’—referring to the hormone medicine—is bittersweet, as it represents hope, commitment, and sometimes the discomfort that comes with injections. Overall, surrogacy requires patience, self-care, and resilience. For anyone considering or currently on this path, know that the emotional and physical preparation is as essential as the medical treatments, and reaching out for support at every step can enhance the experience significantly.
