Planning my garden! I’m obsessed with flowers! 🌸 šŸ’

I took a visit to my local mom and pop garden center to get some inspiration for my garden. I have so much work to do with landscaping that’s it’s a little overwhelming. Last weekend I finally planted a bunch of wildflower seeds for my wildflower garden! I think I needed up planting over 20,000 seeds!!! Most of the seeds have already started sprouting. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. šŸŒŗšŸŒøšŸ’

... Read moreIt's so exciting to finally dive into planning a new garden! After my initial trip for inspiration and getting those wildflower seeds in the ground, I realized there's so much more to consider to create a truly vibrant and thriving space. If you're like me and dreaming of a colorful flower garden, here are some thoughts on how to plan your flower garden effectively and some creative ideas to get you started. First, let's talk about the initial steps for any aspiring gardener. Before you even think about buying specific flower plants, it’s crucial to understand your space. How much sunlight does your chosen area get throughout the day? Is the soil sandy, clay, or something in between? Knowing your soil type and light conditions will guide you towards plants that will truly flourish. Also, consider your hardiness zone; this tells you which perennial flower plants can survive winter in your area. This initial assessment is key to avoiding disappointment and ensuring your garden is a success. When it comes to choosing colourful plants, the options are endless! For a continuous bloom, I’m looking into mixing early, mid, and late-season flowers. For example, delicate Creeping Phlox can provide a beautiful carpet of color in spring, followed by classic Shasta Daisies in early summer, and vibrant Echinacea (coneflowers) which can bring the garden to life through late summer and fall. Don't forget to research different flower plant names and their growth habits to ensure they'll play well together in your garden bed. Thinking about a diverse range of flower types not only creates stunning visual interest but also supports local pollinators, which brings me to the importance of ornamental gardening. Beyond just aesthetics, ornamental gardening offers incredible benefits. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature, reduce stress, and even get some gentle exercise. A beautiful garden can also create a welcoming habitat for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, turning your outdoor space into a lively ecosystem. For those positive garden VIBES, remember that a well-planned garden adds curb appeal and can be a source of immense personal satisfaction. It's a living, breathing piece of art that evolves with the seasons. Lastly, let's touch on some practical tips. If you're starting from seed like me, ensure your soil is well-prepared and follow the specific planting instructions for depth and spacing. Consistent watering, especially for new sprouts, is vital. And a quick note on garden materials: if you’re considering using recycled items like old tires for borders or planters, be aware that some people worry about potential toxins leaching into the soil. While research varies, opting for safer alternatives like natural stone, wood, or terracotta pots is often recommended, especially for edible plants. Always think about the long-term health of your garden and the environment. Keep exploring local garden centers or online resources to discover WHERE TO GO for the best plants and advice for your unique garden project!
