Creating Memories 🤍🥰
Oh my goodness, who else remembers that incredible snow day in Memphis? 🌨️ It’s not every year we get to see our city covered in a blanket of white, and when it happens, it feels like pure magic! I wanted to share a bit about how we made the most of it and really focused on creating lasting memories that day. Because let's be honest, those unexpected days off are perfect for just being present and soaking it all in. For us, the first thing was embracing the chill! We bundled up in every scarf and hat we could find and headed outside. Building a snowman was obviously at the top of the list – it's a classic for a reason, right? But beyond just the big guy, we also tried making snow angels and even had a friendly snowball fight (no one got hurt, I promise!). The sheer joy of seeing our usually green lawns transformed into a winter wonderland was something I won't forget. It wasn't just about the activity, though; it was about the laughter and the silly moments we shared. Those are the little things that truly become cherished memories. After we were thoroughly frosted, we came inside for some much-needed warmth. This is where the cozy memory-making truly began! We put on our comfiest pajamas, made a huge batch of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows, and settled down for a movie marathon. It’s those simple, comforting traditions that often stick with you the longest. We even pulled out some old board games – remember those? – and had a blast competing and joking around. The quiet hum of the house, punctuated by our cheers and groans during the games, felt incredibly peaceful and special. One of my biggest tips for how to make memories on days like these is to put your phone down (just for a little while!). I know, I know, we all want to capture everything, but sometimes just being fully present makes a huge difference. I did take a few quick photos of the snow-covered streets and our snowman, capturing those iconic Memphis landmarks dusted with white, but then I tucked my phone away to really engage. It allowed me to notice the small details: the way the light reflected off the snow, the sound of silence outside, and the genuine smiles on everyone's faces. These are the mental snapshots I'll treasure. Another idea is to get a little creative in the kitchen. We decided to bake some cookies together – the smell alone instantly creates a comforting atmosphere. Even if they weren't picture-perfect, the process of mixing, rolling, and decorating together was half the fun. Plus, having warm cookies to enjoy afterward was the perfect treat to complement our hot chocolate. These unexpected snow days are a precious reminder to slow down and appreciate the simple joys. They don't happen often in Memphis, so when they do, it's an opportunity to truly lean into the moment and create those special, unforgettable experiences with loved ones. It’s not about grand gestures, but about finding magic in the everyday, especially when nature gives us a rare gift like a snow day. What did you do on the last snow day to make it memorable? I'd love to hear your ideas too!
