From my experience making this salmon bowl, I find that marinating the protein for at least two hours really enhances the flavors and tenderizes the meat. The combination of garlic, onion powder, paprika, ginger, turmeric, MSG, pepper, sesame oil, and a spicy-sweet kick from honey and spicy chili crisp creates a vibrant and balanced taste profile. Using an air fryer at 360°F for about 14 minutes yields a perfectly cooked, slightly crispy exterior while retaining juiciness inside. For those who prefer less spice, you can easily omit the spicy chili crisp or reduce the honey's heat level for a milder marinade. I love customizing the bowl with a base of steamed rice, fresh lettuce, cucumber, shredded carrot, and creamy avocado. Adding sauces like eel sauce and spicy mayo brings an irresistible umami and creamy texture, while sprinkling crispy onion and fried jalapeños adds a delightful crunch and extra flavor bursts. This recipe’s flexibility is a big plus—you can switch out salmon for shrimp or chicken depending on your preference or what’s available. It’s also excellent for meal prep since it keeps well refrigerated and can be enjoyed cold or reheated. If you want to add more zest, freshly chopped cilantro is a nice touch, and a squeeze of lime juice brightens the entire bowl. Overall, this salmon bowl has become one of my favorite go-to meals because it balances spicy, sweet, savory, crunchy, and fresh elements in each bite. It’s quick to prepare yet feels gourmet, making it ideal for busy weekdays or relaxing weekend dinners.
