Summer breaks have always been a special time for me—a moment to pause, reflect, and recharge after a demanding school year. Over the years, I've kept a photo journal that helps me look back on all the milestones and achievements with my students. There’s something truly rewarding about witnessing the progress you and your students make after months of hard work. This summer, however, marks a different chapter. For the first time in eight years, I’m not returning to a traditional classroom setting but stepping into virtual teaching. It’s exciting but also a bit scary because it means starting anew, learning unfamiliar platforms, and finding creative ways to engage students online. The freedom that summer brings can feel overwhelming, especially when facing change. To navigate this, I’ve started creating new routines built around intentional habit-building, including fitness goals and personal development, helping me stay grounded. Transitioning to virtual teaching requires me to stretch my skills and be adaptable, qualities I’ve always valued. The uncertainty that comes with it fosters meaningful growth, even before feeling fully ready. For anyone else who’s faced a big life or career shift, I know that mixture of nervousness, excitement, and gratitude all too well. Taking time this summer to rest, reset, and approach this new chapter with positivity is key. I’m eager to see how this opportunity will help me grow as an educator and as an individual, and I’m committed to making a positive impact in this new virtual space.
