I’ve been on a roller coaster of a fitness journey for the last 6 years! Some years I worked out way to much.. other years I worked out not enough and now I FINALLY feel like I’m at place that’s healthy, fun and growing! I like to challenge myself but I don’t count calories and I rarely weigh myself! My goal is to be healthy and thank goodness because for a while I did not feel healthy at all 🙃 luckily I’ve worked hard the past 2 years and have gotten to a very healthy place in life and I just want to say I’m super proud and happy with my accomplishment to love my body! I still have days where I feel like I don’t like it and I have to remind myself why I LOVE it. If your on a fitness journey I just ask that you give your body the same appreciation and love at the beginning of your journey as you would with the body goal aspirations you desire because no matter what it’s working hard for you 🫶🏽 #bodypositivity#bodypositivityaffirmations

... Read moreFinding true body positivity isn't just about saying you love yourself; it's about actively practicing that love every single day. My own journey wasn't linear, but over time, I've discovered a set of practices that truly make a difference in how I feel about my body. If you're looking for ways to embrace your body and build confidence, here are some actionable steps I've integrated into my own life, inspired by the daily reminders I use.
First and foremost, appreciate your body for what it can *do*, not just what it looks like. Instead of focusing on perceived flaws, I started celebrating my strength, my ability to move, dance, and simply exist. When I'm working out, I focus on the feeling of my muscles working, the energy it gives me, and the joy of movement. This shift in perspective from external appearance to internal function was a game-changer.
Next, eat well to nourish, not punish. For so long, my relationship with food was about restriction and guilt. Now, I focus on fueling my body with delicious, wholesome foods that make me feel good. This means listening to my hunger cues, enjoying meals without obsessing over calories, and allowing myself treats in moderation, without judgment. It’s about balance and finding joy in food, recognizing it as a source of energy and pleasure.
Affirm your beauty daily. This might sound cliché, but speaking kindly to yourself makes a huge impact. I started with simple affirmations in the mirror, like "I am worthy of love and respect" or "My body is beautiful and strong." It felt awkward at first, but with consistency, these words began to sink in, helping me to genuinely remind myself why I love my body even on challenging days.
Don't underestimate the power of drinking enough water. It seems so basic, yet staying hydrated makes a world of difference to my energy levels, skin health, and overall well-being. It’s a simple act of self-care that helps my body function optimally, and when my body feels good on the inside, it reflects on the outside.
Wear comfortable clothes that make you feel good. I used to squeeze into outfits that didn't quite fit or made me feel self-conscious. Now, I choose clothes that allow me to move freely, feel confident, and express my personality. Dressing in a way that honors my body, rather than trying to hide or change it, has been incredibly liberating. It’s about embracing what you have and dressing for your comfort and joy.
Crucially, avoid comparison. In this age of social media, it's easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others. I've learned to unfollow accounts that make me feel inadequate and instead seek out diverse bodies and perspectives that inspire and uplift me. My journey is unique, and focusing on my own progress and happiness, rather than someone else's highlight reel, has been vital for my mental peace and body acceptance.
Finally, all these practices contribute to building genuine confidence. It’s not about achieving a certain look, but about cultivating an inner strength and self-belief. These daily habits, from appreciating my body to avoiding comparison, have slowly but surely built a foundation of self-love that feels unshakeable. It’s a continuous process, but one that leads to a much healthier and happier relationship with yourself.
