My August audio books recap

... Read moreBeyond just sharing my August audiobook recap, I wanted to dive a little deeper into why I love audiobooks and how I discover my next great listen! If you're anything like me, you're always on the hunt for those 'must-read' titles, especially thrilling page-turners or captivating fantasy sagas. One of the questions I get asked most often is, 'How do you find such great books?' Well, it's a mix of trusty recommendations and diving into various 'reading lists'! I scour book blogs, fellow Lemon8 creators, and even listen to podcasts dedicated to book reviews. For 'top rated thrillers', I often check Goodreads lists or specific genre forums. I've found some absolute gems that way, titles that kept me on the edge of my seat, much like some of my August picks such as 'Quit Me If You Can' or 'Twisted Circles'. Those nail-biting stories are perfect for long commutes or while tackling chores! Speaking of discovery, let's talk about 'ebook service or subscription' options. These are a game-changer for audiobook lovers! I personally use a popular subscription service because it gives me access to a vast library without breaking the bank. It's fantastic for trying out new authors or genres without commitment. For instance, if you're curious about popular fantasy romance like 'Neon Gods' (a well-loved title I've heard amazing things about!) or epics like 'Crescent City Part 1 & 2' that I totally devoured, a subscription can be incredibly cost-effective. Plus, many services offer curated 'reading lists' based on your preferences, which is a huge time-saver. You might also find hidden treasures like 'Chasing the Wild' or 'Perfect Pucking Match' that way! When it comes to my listening habits, I love variety. My August list had a bit of everything, from intense thrillers like 'When We Lied' and 'Half Truths' to more adventurous tales such as 'Maverick' and 'Serpent & Dove'. I find that having a mix keeps my listening fresh. Sometimes I crave a deep, emotional story, other times I just want a fun, lighthearted listen. A few tips for anyone looking to get more into audiobooks: Don't be afraid to speed it up! Most apps let you adjust the narration speed. I usually listen at 1.5x or 1.75x. Multitask! Audiobooks are perfect for walks, cooking, cleaning, or even just relaxing with a cup of tea. Explore different narrators. A good narrator can truly make or break an audiobook experience. Sometimes, if I'm struggling to get into a book, it's the narrator, not the story. Keep a running list. I always jot down titles I hear about or want to try, like 'Sinners Retreat' or 'Mile High', so I never run out of options. I hope this gives you some ideas for your own audiobook adventures! What are your favorite services or genres? I'd love to hear your recommendations too!
