PCOS! Don’t let them ignore your symptoms

Just wanted to share my experience in my journey to finding out about my pcos and symptoms. since I was 14 I had extremely painful periods and super irregular I’d either have a period more than 2 times a month or not at all.. i struggled with weight gain and loss which caused a major eating disorder. Was always super bloated where I looked pregnant. I ended up getting pregnant 3 different times all led to miscarriages and no one would tell me why.. had many male doctors tell me my pain was normal bc I was “on my period”. Everytime I was on my period I had crippling pain I couldn’t move it caused me to throw up shaking fever and even passing out.. I was forced to believe I was being dramatic and had a low pain tolerance.. I went to the emergency room once a month for years on end getting tested and told nothing was wrong.. I finally moved and the first time in an emergency room the guy looked shocked. He said I’m not sure how you’ve been going this long with no help. I had major cysts the size of my uterus and tubes that looked to be blocked I got referred to a specialist and found out I have pcos as well as blocked tubes.. it may be frustrating but sometimes you just need to get multiple opinions and push them bc not all doctors actually want to help. I hope this helps someone because we don’t deserve to be pushed away or told our pain is nothing.. I think it depends on where you go and how much you push doctors some just want to get you out of there or keep you coming back so they make more money..

YOU DESERVE TO BE HEARD.. that much pain is not “Normal” and no woman should have to endure it just because she’s on her period.. this is a safe space please feel free to share your story..

Hey 👋🏻 I also have PCOS and just like most, I have difficulty being heard. I am determined to find doctors who specialize in PCOS and find alternatives when I cannot afford medications. No one talks about that aspect of being diagnosed and broke. It's hard, I'm advocating for myself trying to find a way to get stuff done.
