RIP Bob
Bob Uecker, affectionately known as “Mr. Baseball,” passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 90, after a private battle with small-cell lung cancer.  Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Uecker’s career spanned over six decades, leaving an indelible mark on both the sports and entertainment industries.
Uecker began his Major League Baseball career as a catcher, playing for teams including the Milwaukee Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and Atlanta Braves from 1962 to 1967. He was part of the Cardinals’ 1964 World Series-winning team.  Following his playing days, Uecker transitioned to broadcasting, becoming the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers in 1971, a position he held for 54 seasons. 
Beyond baseball, Uecker’s charisma led him to various entertainment ventures. He starred as George Owens in the popular 1980s sitcom “Mr. Belvedere,” bringing laughter to households nationwide.  In 1987, he served as a ring announcer at WrestleMania III, further showcasing his versatility.  His self-deprecating humor made him a favorite guest on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,” earning him the endearing title “Mr. Baseball.” 
Uecker’s contributions were recognized with numerous accolades, including the Ford C. Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003 and induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010.  His legacy is one of humor, dedication, and a profound love for the game.
