💜 From Recovery to Strength | Daily Stretches for Stroke Survivors ✨

✨ Stroke Rehabilitation & Recovery ✨

Hey Momentum Babes! 🤍💜

Today we’re leaning into a deeper layer of wellness—healing, rebuilding, and reclaiming strength after a stroke.

At Momentum Health Wellness & Dance, we believe movement is more than physical… it’s powerful, emotional, and life-restoring. Stroke rehabilitation is a journey, and every step forward—no matter how small—is meaningful.

Here’s your gentle reminder of what recovery can look like:

💜 Move with Intention

Recovery starts with purposeful movement. From guided exercises to gentle mobility, each motion helps retrain the brain and body to work together again.

💜 Reconnect Mind + Body

Healing isn’t just physical. Breathwork, focus, and mindful movement help rebuild confidence, awareness, and control.

💜 Progress Creates Momentum

At Momentum, we stand on this: it’s not about perfection—it’s about progress. Small wins turn into powerful breakthroughs over time.

💜 Support is Strength

Community, care, and encouragement matter. Whether it’s therapists, family, or your wellness tribe—you are not alone in this journey.

💜 Restore Everyday Movement

We focus on functional wellness—helping you get back to real-life movements with confidence, independence, and grace.

Recovery is not rushed. It’s nurtured. It’s supported. It’s celebrated.

And here, we honor every step of that journey. 🤍💜

... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to share a bit more about my personal journey with stroke recovery and how incredible gentle movement has been for me. When you're facing the aftermath of a stroke, it can feel overwhelming, but focusing on small, consistent steps, especially with gentle stretches, truly makes a difference. The original post touches on the importance of purposeful movement, and I can't stress that enough! Many of us, myself included, often search for ways to alleviate stiffness, improve flexibility, and regain a sense of control, especially in areas like the neck and shoulders. That's why I've found these specific gentle exercises to be incredibly helpful. Remember, the key is to listen to your body and *move mindfully*. Never push into pain, and *rest when needed*. Let’s dive into a few that I do daily, inspired by what I’ve learned: 1. Gentle Neck Stretches: If you're dealing with a stiff neck, like I was, this is a lifesaver. Slowly tilt your head gently to one side, bringing your ear towards your shoulder. You should feel a gentle pull on the opposite side of your neck. Hold for 15-20 seconds, *breathe deeply*, and then slowly return to the center before switching sides. Repeat 2-3 times per side. This helps improve cervical flexibility and can ease tension that often builds up. 2. Shoulder Rolls Exercise: This is so simple yet effective for improving shoulder mobility and reducing stiffness. Gently roll your shoulders up, back, and down in a slow circle. Focus on making the movement fluid and controlled. Do 5-10 repetitions forward, then reverse the direction for another 5-10 repetitions. It’s like giving your shoulders a mini-massage! 3. Chest Opening Stretch: After a stroke, posture can sometimes be affected, leading to a more rounded upper back. A chest opening stretch can counteract this. While seated or standing, gently draw your shoulders back and imagine opening your chest. You can interlace your fingers behind your back or place your hands on a wall/doorframe and gently lean forward. Hold for 20-30 seconds. This helps improve breathing capacity and promotes better alignment. Beyond these, don't forget other vital areas! I also incorporate a gentle side stretch to lengthen my torso, and dedicated wrist & hand stretches are crucial for dexterity. A seated spinal twist helps with core mobility, and working on my legs with hamstring stretches and calf stretches keeps me grounded and supports walking confidence. Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. The OCR images really hit home with their advice: *Be patient with yourself*. *Every step forward is progress*. And seriously, celebrate every small victory – whether it's reaching a little further or just feeling less stiff. You are not alone in this journey. We're in this together!
