How the Rockettes Got Their Name

The Rockettes started as the Missouri Rockets. Then moved to NYC and were renamed the Roxyettes for Vaudeville empresario Samuel “Roxy” Rothafel, then renamed to Rockettes when they moved to Rockefeller Center.
