Lesson 11: Evangelism

From personal experience, I can say that evangelism is both a calling and a journey that deepens our faith as we step out of our comfort zones. One important lesson I've learned is that effective evangelism blends a heartfelt testimony with a lifestyle that mirrors Christ’s love. People often respond more to how we live than to just the words we speak. A powerful way to start sharing the Gospel is by preparing your testimony. When I first wrote mine, I followed the three biblical parts: describing my life before Christ, how I found faith in Jesus, and the transformation since. It felt intimidating at first, but sharing my testimony has opened doors to meaningful conversations and let others see the hope I have. Another key insight is relying on the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Evangelism isn’t about reciting scripture like a speech but about trusting God to work through your words and actions. This reliance gave me boldness when facing rejection or uncertainty. I also found that praying specifically for individuals in your life who need the Gospel—and asking God to prepare their hearts—makes a big difference. Being ready to give a gentle and respectful defense of your faith when opportunities arise shows love and humility, reflecting 1 Peter 3:15. Additionally, the Great Commission reminds us that evangelism is ongoing. Making disciples means we not only share the Gospel but also support new believers in growing and eventually sharing faith themselves. I’ve found that building relationships and encouraging others strengthens the community and spreads the message naturally. Ultimately, evangelism is about showing God’s love through both words and actions. Reflecting on Jesus’s compassion, as seen in stories like Mark 5:18-19 where a life changed by Christ became a powerful testimony, encourages us to share what God has done in our lives. By living as faithful witnesses empowered by the Holy Spirit, we play a vital role in God’s mission to bring salvation to all nations.
