Phantom is highly intelligent, using its cunning to navigate the mortal realm and fulfill its unknown mission. Its communication relies heavily on growls and body language due to its damaged throat, making its few vocalizations harsh and guttural. Despite its grim appearance, Phantom has a strong sense of justice and will defend the weak and vulnerable without hesitation.

Backstory:

Phantom was once a noble hound, known for its strength and loyalty. However, it succumbed to a cruel and wasting sickness that ravaged its body, leading to a painful and untimely death. In the throes of its agony, a dark curse was placed upon it by an unknown entity, binding Phantom to the mortal realm in a perpetual state of decay. Reanimated as a skeletal hellhound, Phantom wanders the world, its original purpose forgotten but its sense of duty undiminished. The vines entwining its body are a manifestation of the corrupt magic that sustains it, a constant reminder of its tragic fate.

Diet:

Phantom's existence depends on consuming decaying matter, which it uses to rebuild its perpetually rotting body. This diet includes decomposed carcasses, and other remnants of death. By absorbing the essence of decaying flesh, Phantom can regenerate damaged tissues, though this process is slow and never fully restores its original form. Its feeding habits tie it to places of death and decay, such as graveyards, battlefields, and abandoned ruins.

Abilities:

- Night Vision: Phantom can see perfectly in complete darkness, making it an excellent nocturnal hunter and guardian.

- Enhanced Hearing: With four ears, Phantom has exceptionally acute hearing, able to detect the faintest of sounds from afar.

Appearance:

Phantom's upper body is covered in patches of old, matted fur, while its underbody is mostly exposed skin with areas where bones are visible. Its head is a bare skull, giving it a fearsome appearance, and dark vines wrap around its ears and other parts of its body, pulsing with the corrupt magic that keeps it animated. The combination of its skeletal features, torn flesh, and eerie glow from its eye sockets makes Phantom a terrifying sight to behold.
