You're not lazy. You're carrying too much

For the longest time, I thought I just needed to be more disciplined.

To push through. To get more done. To stop feeling so overwhelmed.

But I wasn't lazy...

I was carrying too much.

If you've been feeling like you're constantly pouring into everyone else while running on empty yourself, I hope this reminds you that your exhaustion is worth paying attention to.

🤍 Comment RESET and I'll send you the simple habits that helped me start

feeling like myself again.

Save this post for the days you need the reminder.

... Read moreBased on my experience, feeling overwhelmed often isn’t about a lack of discipline or motivation; it’s about carrying excessive emotional and physical burdens without adequate rest. Many of us tirelessly respond to everyone’s needs—answering texts, remembering appointments, managing household tasks—but neglect our own care. This ongoing 'survival mode' can normalize exhaustion, making it difficult to even notice how depleted we truly are. What helped me break this cycle was first acknowledging that feeling overwhelmed is a valid signal, not a personal flaw. I started setting gentle boundaries, learning to say no when my plate was full, and prioritizing rest without guilt. Incorporating simple daily habits like short mindfulness breaks, deep breathing exercises for nervous system regulation, and carving out moments just for myself gradually restored my energy. Connecting with supportive communities, like those focusing on habit healing and nervous system regulation, can also provide encouragement and practical advice. For overwhelmed moms and caregivers especially, recognizing that self-care is essential—not selfish—is vital to sustaining your ability to care for others. Remember, the key is not to push harder but to listen deeply to your body and mind's needs. Small, consistent steps toward balance can rejuvenate your spirit and help you feel like yourself again.

You’re not lazy. You’re overloaded. When your brain is carrying too much, even “simple” things start to feel heavy—including journaling. That’s why this works. It’s not about writing more. It’s about giving your mind somewhere to set things down. A few ways to make this even easier:
