✨San Juan Mission

When I started this acrylic piece, 'San Juan Capistrano, Ruins,' I felt an undeniable pull towards the deep history embedded in every crumbling arch and weathered stone. There's a profound quietness that settles over you when you walk through these ancient grounds, a feeling of stepping back in time. For me, painting isn't just about replicating what I see; it's about translating that powerful atmosphere, that sense of centuries passing, onto the canvas. I’ve always been captivated by the California Missions, and San Juan Capistrano holds a special place. Its ruins, unlike perfectly preserved structures, tell a more intricate story of resilience, change, and enduring beauty. You can almost hear the echoes of past lives within its walls. This fascination is something I share with many others who seek out these historical treasures, whether they're admirers of the iconic swallows or someone searching for images like a 'San Juan Bautista drawing' to explore another mission's unique charm.
