My favorite part of cosplay
There are a lot more friends that I have made from cosplay alone!! It’s given me the opportunity to branch out and meet people from other city’s and state; some I probably would never visit on my own. To be able to go to cons and meet people and possibly grow friendships is amazing!!
That being said not all people in the cosplay community are safe and fun and always always always be careful about who and how you interact with some people. I’m grateful to have found people that have my best intentions in mind however there are some out there who want other things or aren’t good people. It’s okay to be picky about friends especially if you don’t know them completely. You aren’t entitled to give them your friendship, trust or time.

I've seen some friends absolutely nail vastly different characters, from fierce warriors to adorable Pokémon. It truly shows immense dedication and skill! When it comes to portraying multiple characters, getting feedback is key to growth. I've learned that the best feedback comes from fellow cosplayers who genuinely want to see you succeed. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about feeling like the character. When I'm working on a new character, I often reach out to some trusted friends from the community, maybe someone I met at a con, to get their honest thoughts. They might point out a pose that could be more in character, or suggest a small detail I missed in the costume construction. Constructive criticism helps so much more than just a 'looks good!' It’s about asking specific questions, like 'Does this pose convey their personality?' or 'Are there any details I missed on the prop?' On the flip side, being a good community member means giving helpful feedback too. I always try to be specific and positive first, then offer suggestions for improvement gently. It’s a delicate balance, but it strengthens those amazing friendships we make! After all, we're all here to share our passion and grow together. Speaking of diverse characters, I’ve been absolutely loving some of the new Pokémon cosplays popping up, especially Sprigatito! It’s such a fun and mischievous character, and bringing it to life requires a lot of playful energy. I saw an amazing Sprigatito cosplay at a recent con, and the cosplayer totally captured its essence – from the detailed ears and tail to the cheeky expressions. It reminded me how much creativity goes into adapting these characters from screen to real life. It’s not just about the sewing; it’s about understanding the character's spirit and translating that into your portrayal. The community often gives great feedback on these specific details, like how to make animal ears more dynamic or how to achieve that perfect 'pounce' pose. Whether you’re juggling multiple character projects or diving deep into perfecting just one, like an adorable Sprigatito, remember that your cosplay friends and the wider community are there to cheer you on and help you shine. It’s truly one of the best parts of this whole cosplay life – the shared passion and the amazing people you meet along the way at every con!
