Giveaway the Dissected Paper Reading Bible! (New Safe Express)
Do research, but see the Paper and discourage? 📑 The problem is not the language, but the way to read! Today I will share the iron rules and the point that do not overlook if I want to read to lack the form of Mum!
🔥 1. 3-round reading rule (The Master Strategy)
Don't waste time reading every letter from the first page. Use this rule:
Round 1: Scan (Find Value) - Read just Title + Abstract + Conclusion to answer yourself, can this work be referenced in our work? If the content is not hit...Throw it away now!
Round 2: Look at the Visuals (Shortcut) - Skip all Figure and Table. The graph on this paper shows Leptin and Ghrelin (pages 11-12) is the main heart. If you look at the photo, you already understand 50% of the content. 📌👍🏻👩🏻🔬
Round 3: Deep Dive (Detel Storage) - Read the Methods and Results section thoroughly, only the paper we'll be using is really the main task.
⚠️ 2. The Hidden Gems.
Many people miss because they overlook these points:
Figure Captions (caption): Do not look at just the graph! Read a small description under the figure because it tells which statistic is significant (look for p < 0.05)
Sample Characteristics (Sample Data): In this paper, they use healthy men, which means that we can't take 100% of this effect on women or sick people. Be careful when writing summaries.
Conflicts of Interest (Conflicts of Interest): Scroll to the end of who funded the research. If a sleeping pill company funds sleep research, we need to read it extra carefully!
Limitations: Usually at the end of the Discussion, this is a treasure trove, because it tells us what loopholes this work has, so we can continue to do research (Research Gap).
🛠️ 3. Advanced Searching
Keyword Trace: See the word Metabolic effect or Sleep curtailment in this paper? Write it down! Search and find more cogent work than broad words like Sleep loss.
Snowballing: Look at the Reference. The sequence he references often and then follows the original will make the younger research look tight because it actually refers to the upstream.
💡 Brief summary (Takeaway)
Reading the paper is not reading the subject, it is catching the wrong and finding the evidence.
1 Find the right paper. 🎯
2 See the results from Figure 📊
3 reliability checks from statistics and sample 🔍
