... Read moreI remember reading Philippians 3:13 for the first time, and that phrase 'reaching forth' just stuck with me. It felt like an invitation, a challenge, and a promise all at once. For so long, I found myself dwelling on past mistakes, missed opportunities, or even past successes that I thought defined me. It’s so easy to get 'stuck' there, isn't it? But Paul’s words, 'forgetting those things which are behind,' really hit home. It’s not about denying our past, but about choosing not to let it hold us captive. It’s a conscious decision to release the burdens and regrets that hinder our spiritual growth. This journey of 'reaching forth' has become incredibly personal for me. I started keeping a handwritten journal, much like what’s described in the image, to process these thoughts. In it, I reflect on what it truly means to let go and how to practically 'go deeper' into God’s word. Forgetting the past isn't always easy; sometimes it means forgiving myself, or others, and accepting that God’s grace is sufficient. It means acknowledging that God's grace is new every morning, and yesterday's failures don't dictate today's potential. Then comes the exciting part: 'reaching forth unto those things which are before.' This isn't just about vague optimism; it’s about actively pursuing God's plan for my life. It’s about setting spiritual goals, just like the article mentions. For instance, my current goal is to delve deeper into the book of John, or to practice gratitude daily, even for the small things. What does God want me to learn? How can I serve Him better? How can I strengthen my trust in God when circumstances feel uncertain? This requires a conscious effort to immerse myself in His presence, to be fully submerged in His teachings. For me, that means consistent bible study, not just reading, but truly meditating on verses like Philippians 3:13 and letting them transform my perspective. It also means spending time in prayer, listening for His guidance, and seeking out community with others who are also striving to 'grow in their faith.' There's immense strength in unity, in sharing our struggles and successes on this spiritual path. When we unite in faith, we encourage each other to keep 'reaching forth,' even when we feel like retreating. I've learned that God is faithful, even when I falter. His promises are true, and He wants us to move forward, not stay in the 'shadow waters,' but to embrace the fullness of His purpose. When I feel overwhelmed, I remind myself of His faithfulness, and it helps me push past doubt and keep 'reaching forth.' This verse isn't just a nice sentiment; it's a powerful call to action for anyone who desires a deeper, more intentional relationship with God. So, what are you 'reaching forth' to today? How are you actively choosing to leave the past behind and step into the incredible future God has for you?
