Rented a boat at Phuket for 2000 baht for 8 pax!

When in Phuket, many have surely wanted to try the classic island-hopping tours. But for my family, with kids and elderly, it surely is not convenient. Early reporting times, expensive prices per pax (~$50sgd per pax), weather uncertainties… all of these made it difficult for me to choose the classic island hopping at Phuket. Instead, i found another option - the Phang Bay tour!! Phang Nga Bay is on a whole different level.

Here’s why:

⛰️ 1. Unreal Scenery You Won’t Find Elsewhere

Phang Nga Bay’s iconic limestone karsts rising straight out of emerald-green water are jaw-dropping. It feels like cruising through a natural cathedral of cliffs—dramatic, serene, and unlike anything at Phi Phi.

🛶 2. More Tranquil, Less Crowded

Traditional Island like Phi Phi often feels like a tourist highway, but Phang Nga Bay gives you space to actually enjoy the moment. Hidden lagoons, quiet coves, and peaceful canoeing make the experience feel exclusive and relaxing.

🌅 3. Unique Activities You Can’t Do at Phi Phi

Think guided sea-canoeing into secret caves, exploring floating villages like Koh Panyee, or visiting the legendary James Bond Island. It’s a whole adventure woven with culture and nature.

🚤 4. A More Affordable option

It costed me only 2000 baht for the whole boat (see pic 4, for the detailed islands it brings you to), for my whole family of 8 pax. That saved me hundreds of dollars as compared to a klook trip for each of them!

I booked mine with Nana Tour (can search on Gmaps!). On the day, we self-drove to Pracharat pier to get on the boat. Grab is possible as well, but we alr were renting a car, so we self-drove there instead. Everything was smooth, and from there, we just enjoyed the trip. If you have time left, dont forget to visit the iconic Bay View Cafe. Tremendous views!

... Read moreIf you're planning a family trip that includes both kids and elderly members, opting for a private boat rental in Phang Nga Bay can significantly enhance your travel experience compared to conventional island-hopping tours in Phuket. While traditional tours often have strict early departure times, high per-person fees, and are prone to crowded conditions, renting your own boat offers a flexible, comfortable, and intimate journey tailored to your family's pace. Phang Nga Bay stands out for its jaw-dropping limestone karsts that rise dramatically from emerald-green waters, creating a natural wonder unlike any other in the region. Unlike Phi Phi Island’s bustling tourist spots, Phang Nga Bay offers secluded lagoons, hidden caves, and peaceful coves where you can canoe without interruption, allowing for a serene and exclusive adventure. On such a tour, you will likely explore famous destinations like James Bond Island, known for its striking rock formations seen in the iconic movie, and the floating village of Koh Panyee, where you can observe local lifestyle and culture. Guided sea-canoeing through secret caves provides an unforgettable experience connecting nature with local heritage. Booking through local operators such as Nana Tour, which can be found easily on Google Maps, often supports local communities and ensures better prices. A full boat rental for 8 people costing just 2000 baht is a fantastic deal, especially when compared to typical rates of about $50 SGD per person on group island hopping tours. This approach not only saves expenses but also gives you control over the itinerary and timing, avoiding the rush and scheduling constraints. To reach the departure pier at Pracharat, it’s convenient to self-drive if you have rented a car in Phuket, or use local transport options like Grab. Additionally, after your boating adventure, be sure to stop by the Bay View Cafe, which offers tremendous panoramic views to relax and reflect on your day. This private boat rental option makes for a more inclusive and pleasant experience for families, nature lovers, and travelers seeking peaceful exploration away from crowded tourist spots. With affordable pricing, excellent scenery, and unique activities, Phang Nga Bay is a superb alternative for your Phuket trip planning.
