When you declare “who you like” or “what you are,” you help break down societal stigma and inspire others to do the same. Sometimes, humor and light-hearted expressions can also help normalize conversations about identity and orientation. For example, playful phrases like “I smell gay” — while meant in jest — can foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
