How I Broke My Ankle In The Viral Platform Uggs✨🫶🥰
Heyy guys, I’ve been dying to tell this story and now that I am 2 weeks post op I feel its finally time😈
Sooo my bf bought me the viral platform uggs for Christmas and I think I only wore them twice before I broke and dislocated my ankle in two places and tore a ligament.
Two days after Christmas I went to lunch with 8 of my cousins. After lunch we were walking to the cars and I barely stepped off the sidewalk and felt and heard my ankle snap.
This was the craziest experience of my life because I own mostly platform shoes and have never broken a bone in my life. These were my first pair of platform uggs and I’ve already sent them back😑
I really thought it was just me, but then I looked it up on tik tok and saw so many people have either sprained or broken their ankles in these shoes and other platform uggs. I even saw where a girl broke both of her ankles at the same time in them.
I really love the brand and the look, but honestly don’t think it’s worth all this. I had to have a $10,000 surgery with two incision sites and I will not be able to put weight on my ankle for at least 8-12 weeks.
⭐️Overall rating: 2/5: only because they were such a look, but fr don’t buy them😇
... Read moreThat fateful day, the sound of my ankle snapping was something I’ll never forget. One moment I was walking, chatting with my cousins, and the next I was on the ground, my foot twisted at an unnatural angle. The pain was immediate and intense, unlike anything I'd ever experienced. It wasn't just a simple sprain, as I initially hoped; the X-rays quickly confirmed a severe fibula fracture and a medial fracture, along with a completely torn ligament. It truly felt like my leg had betrayed me, all thanks to a pair of shoes I bought for their 'viral' appeal and trendy look.
The initial days were a blur of emergency room visits, consultations, and the overwhelming news that I’d need surgery. Seeing those 'Pre Surgery' X-rays with the highlighted fractures was a stark reminder of how quickly life can change. The surgery itself was a major ordeal, resulting in two incision sites and the implantation of surgical plates and screws to literally put my ankle back together. It’s a harsh reality check when a trendy fashion item leads to such a serious medical intervention, costing me a whopping $10,000.
Being '2 WEEKS POST OP' is where my real journey began. Learning to navigate life with a leg that couldn't bear weight for 8-12 weeks has been incredibly challenging. Simple tasks become monumental, and the frustration is real. Each day is a reminder of the 'Aftermath' and the careful recovery ahead. This forced downtime has also given me a lot of time to reflect on the platform footwear trend. I started seeing countless stories on TikTok – people sharing their own broken ankle experiences, some even worse than mine, all linked to similar platform Uggs or other elevated shoes. It made me realize this wasn't an isolated incident; there's a real safety concern here that goes beyond just clumsy walking.
If you're considering buying these viral platform Uggs or any similar high-platform shoe, please, please think twice. While they might look incredibly stylish and be a huge trend, the risk of serious injury, like a broken ankle, is very real. My personal experience with a fibula fracture, a medial fracture, and needing surgical plates and screws has shown me that no fashion trend is worth potentially losing mobility for months, enduring painful recovery, and facing a massive medical bill. It’s not just a minor inconvenience; it disrupts your entire life.
I'm sharing this in hopes that it resonates with anyone searching for "broken ankle tiktok" stories or wondering if "broke her ankle" in these trendy shoes is a common occurrence. It truly is, and it's a risk I wish I hadn't taken. Always prioritize your safety and comfort over fleeting trends. Your body will thank you in the long run. This has been a tough lesson, but one I felt compelled to share as a genuine warning to help others avoid the same painful path I’ve had to navigate. Stay safe out there!
I broke mine at 14 so
i was at school it was gym so the coach told us to run 5 laps so after 3 laps I was pressuring myself to run so I pressured myself to much that I fell on my ankle so the coach told me go to the nurse so my friends came with me cuz I barely could walk after that the nurse put a cast on it and gave me crunches so I went to my 3rd class and I needed a extra chair but there was pillows on the ground so the teacher told me to rest there after school my mom took me to the hospital and they said I sprained my ankle very bad it was about for like 2 or 3 months to heal
