Hey everyone! So thrilled to share how I created my latest spooky Beetlejuice makeup look that's perfect for Halloween 2024! I know a lot of you were asking about the details, and honestly, it’s easier than it looks. This year, I really wanted to capture that eerie, chaotic vibe of Beetlejuice, focusing on those signature dark, smudged eye makeup elements and, of course, a killer messy dark red lipstick. It's all about embracing the fun and fright! First up, let's talk about the essentials you'll need. Don't worry, you probably have most of these lying around. I used a good black kohl eyeliner—the smudgier, the better for this look! A dark grey or black eyeshadow palette is a must for building up that haunted eye effect. For the lips, any deep red or even a burgundy lipstick will do, as long as it has good pigmentation. And a setting spray is always a lifesaver to keep your spooky makeup look intact all night long. Now for the fun part: the eyes! I started by applying a dark grey eyeshadow all over my lid, extending it slightly past my natural crease and blending it out towards my temples. The key here is not to be too precise; we're going for a wonderfully messy, smudged look. Then, I took my black kohl eyeliner and generously lined both my upper and lower lash lines, making it quite thick. Instead of a sharp line, I immediately went in with a small brush and smudged it out, dragging some of the product downwards on the lower lash line to create that slightly tired, ghostly effect. A little black eyeshadow pressed over the smudged liner helps set it and intensify the darkness. Don't forget a few coats of your favorite volumizing mascara to really make those eyes pop through the darkness! Next, the lips! This part is super easy and adds so much character. I picked a rich, dark red lipstick and applied it directly to my lips. Instead of aiming for perfection, I intentionally went a little outside my lip line in some areas and then gently smudged the edges with my finger. The goal is a 'just feasted' kind of messy dark red lipstick look, embracing the slightly unkempt, undead aesthetic. If you want to take it up a notch, you can dab a tiny bit of black eyeshadow in the very center of your lips before applying the red for an even deeper, more gothic shade. Finally, to tie the whole Halloween-themed makeup look together, I added a bit of contouring with a cool-toned grey eyeshadow under my cheekbones and along my jawline to give a more gaunt, spectral appearance. Finish with a setting spray, and you're ready to haunt!
