day in my life as an almost student teacher!!

i’m currently a college senior in my semester before student teaching. my school does something called, immersion, where we go to our assigned school for two weeks and observe and teach lessons! i’m so grateful for this opportunity given and it helped me prepare for student teaching a lot!

if you have any questions about being an education major or student teaching let me know but keep in mind, it’s going to be different for every state. i live in new york and attend a ny school so it might be different if you live somewhere else!

this indeed was a tik tok i made that i turned into a lemon 8 post lol

My immersion experience has been a huge eye-opener, but I know the path to becoming a certified teacher can feel daunting, especially if your background isn't directly in education from day one. Many of us, myself included, wonder about the 'what ifs' – what if I don't get the perfect placement, or what if I need to take a different route after graduation? One thing I've learned through this process is the incredible value of perseverance and adaptability. If your first plan doesn't pan out exactly as you imagine, don't give up! There are so many avenues into education. Maybe it's volunteering, working as a teaching assistant, or exploring specialized roles that still allow you to interact with students and foster growth. Some states offer alternative certification programs, or you might find that pursuing a Master's in Education strengthens your qualifications and opens new doors. The communication and organizational skills you gain in any field, even something like hotel management, are incredibly transferable and invaluable in a classroom setting. It’s all about framing your experiences and showing how they make you a more well-rounded educator. Beyond formal programs, continuous learning is key. I’m always trying to absorb everything I can, from observing experienced teachers during my placement/school days to diving into educational theories at the library studying sessions. It’s not just about the big certifications; it’s about constantly improving your teaching ability. And let's be real, balancing the academic rigor and practical demands of student teaching prep with daily life can be a juggle! My 'day in the life' might seem packed, but I’ve found little tricks to keep me going. For instance, planning my meals, like making tomorrow's lunch the night before (and sometimes eating leftover mac and cheese when I get hungry late!), saves so much time. Creating a clear to-do list helps me prioritize tasks, whether it’s drafting lesson plans or catching up on readings. And honestly, those little moments of self-care, like a quick after school shower or taking a moment to get ready for the day thoughtfully, make a huge difference in staying refreshed and focused. Picking out tomorrow's outfit before bed might seem small, but it’s one less decision in the morning! Remember, every step, every challenge, and every learning experience contributes to the amazing teacher you're becoming. Keep asking questions, keep seeking opportunities, and most importantly, keep believing in your passion for education!
