FOODIE GUIDE IN MELBOURNE ✨🌈📍🔥

Melbourne is home to its wonderful food and coffee, and I really enjoy my time there each time visiting

hear it from me, a list of hidden gems you will NEED to add this to your wishlist 🥰😍

1. 📍MÖNK ☕️🍫

-Dark hot chocolate at Victoria Market!

-highly recommended for a good cup when you visit

2. 📍 SHORT STOP 🍩

- I LOVEEEEE their donuts!

3. 📍 LA CUCINA 🍝 🍕

- Best Italian pizza and pasta in town

- Check out my other post LA CUCINA

4. 📍 STALACTITES 🇬🇷

- Best Greek food in town recommended by my local tour guide!

- check out my other post STALACTITES

5. 📍 MASTER DAVID MALA HOTPOT

- they have many outlets around the Melbourne CBD, check in if you’re craving spicy and hot malatang 🌶️ 🥵

6. 📍 HARVEST HALLS GAP 🍃 🍁

- if you’re ever heading to GRAMPIANS NATIONAL PARK, this cafe served the BEST eggs Benedict, and avocado toast

- it is a local hangout spot and we saw many families there. Highly recommend!!!

7. 📍 CHANG GO PAL SAIK BBQ 🍖 🥩

- this is rated Melbournes’ top rated KBBQ by a local Melbourne rated foodie list

- what rly wowed me was the seafood chives pancake

-it was CRISPY and CRUNCHY to the max, tasted so delicious paired with the bits of octopus and squid 😭😭🔥🔥

9. 📍 C9 CHOCOLATE & GELATO 🍧 🥤

- yes, most people would come for the GELATO. I would recommend Messina for gelato but instead, give their smoothies a try too if you’re opting for something healthier. Not many people would know about this optionality!

- I wanted just a refreshing drink without it being too sugary for the day and this hit the spot perfectly.

10. 📍 Udon Yasan 🍜

- last but not least, stumbled upon this udon place which were visited by many local students on a Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: night

- if you’re craving something budget + Asian, this bowl of Udon cost me $5.9 which is UNHEARD OF in anyplace you might visit in Australia.

- while I won’t suggest this place if you’re going purely for the taste, this is a quick, fast, affordable budget meal with add-ons of Japanese crabstick, egg, tendons to fill your tummy with some warm broth :)

... Read moreMelbourne's culinary landscape is as diverse as its vibrant culture. Beyond the well-known spots mentioned, I found that exploring local markets and smaller eateries can lead to some truly memorable meals. For example, the Victoria Market isn’t just about fresh produce; it’s a hub where you can sample Melbourne's authentic dark hot chocolate at MÖNK, which offers a rich, velvety experience that's perfect for chilly days. When it comes to indulgence, SHORT STOP’s donuts stand out not only for their variety but for their perfect balance of fluffy texture and rich flavors. These donuts are a favorite among locals, often accompanied by a strong coffee to kick-start the day. Italian food lovers shouldn’t miss LA CUCINA, where the pizza and pasta encapsulate genuine Italian flavors with a Melbourne twist, making each meal a delight. If you’re planning a visit, pairing your meal here with some authentic Italian tiramisu, as recommended in local guides, enhances the experience. For an exotic twist, STALACTITES offers a true taste of Greek cuisine, favored by local tour guides and foodies alike. Their authentic recipes and welcoming atmosphere make it a standout. Spicy food aficionados will appreciate MASTER DAVID MALA HOTPOT, scattered across Melbourne CBD, which delivers a fiery yet comforting malatang experience that’s hard to find elsewhere in the city. If your travels take you towards the Grampians National Park, the HARVEST HALLS GAP café is an essential stop for the best eggs Benedict and avocado toast, enjoyed by many families and locals for its freshness and homely vibes. For Korean BBQ enthusiasts, CHANG GO PAL SAIK BBQ’s seafood chives pancake is a crispy, crunchy highlight that complements the tender meats perfectly. Their reputation as Melbourne's top KBBQ is well-earned. While many flock to Messina for gelato, the lesser-known C9 CHOCOLATE & GELATO offers healthy green smoothies that provide a refreshing, less sugary option, ideal during a day of sightseeing. Finally, Udon Yasan offers an affordable, quick Asian meal beloved by students, with customizable bowls that warm you up without breaking the bank. From personal experience wandering Melbourne’s food scene, mixing iconic spots with hidden gems provides an authentic taste of the city. Embracing the local vibe and trying varied dishes—from rich chocolates and crisp pancakes to budget-friendly udon—ensures a memorable culinary journey in Melbourne.
